Job Title: Sales Manager - Naval Communications

Base location: UK based. Flexible on base location, preferred to be Crawley / Reading. Hybrid model. This position requires occasional international travel.

Purpose:

The owner of this role is responsible for strategy and campaign planning, business development, sales identification, pipe-line building, qualification, offering and closing Secure Communications and Information Systems (SIX) UK naval commercial opportunities.

Secure Communications & Information Systems (SIX)

We operate through two portfolios which support key strategic growth areas of Secure Communication & Protection. The Land Communications team specialise in tactical radio and electronic countermeasures (ECM) for UK and Export markets. The Security and Naval Communications team continues to build on our 100-year history of supporting the Royal Navy with portfolio of products providing integrated voice and data communications.

Missions Responsibilities:

  • Establish and set out the vision for SIX Naval Comms and Connectivity Business Winning Capabilities and Offers.

  • Be the Campaign Manager and Capture Lead for UK Domestic SIX Naval Comms and Connectivity Opportunities including Autonomy, Hybrid Navy and AUKUS.

  • Develop and foster cooperation with other GBUs/ BLs/Countries/SAM/KAM to facilitate a winning approach and develop THALES UK business i.e. alongside UWS, AWS, IAS business lines.

  • Contribute to building and executing the account plans (Strategic & Key).

  • Work closely with KAMs, Special Advisors, Growth Team, Bid and Capture functions to hunt and win opportunities, in order to deliver high level value propositions and winning bids.

  • Act as THALES group representative of accounts (BD, Customer satisfaction, Voice of customer).

  • Establish and develop high level trust-based relationships with key customers to improve PWin.

  • Anticipate complex negotiation closing including partnerships.

  • Coordinate and influence with other functions in the group such as legal, finance, Bids, to deliver winning bids.

  • Act as a voice of the customer.

  • Deputize for the Head of Sales as required.

Ideal Experience & Skills

  • UK sales experience in the Naval Domain with Maritime Campaign planning/leading experience.

  • Capable of managing and taking risk.

  • Fosters an entrepreneurial approach.

  • Ability to forecast and manage a portfolio of opportunities and accounts.

  • Leadership/ Ability to reassess strategy (strategic thinking) and champion innovative approaches and initiatives. 

  • Strong communication skills, partner relationship skills, and team leadership skills.

Security Clearance Requirement:

Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions.  This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. 

To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.  In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
