Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will drive ABB’s Motion Low Voltage Drives business growth in Japan by developing and executing a robust regional sales strategy. You will lead the sales organization to strengthen market penetration, expand customer relationships, and deliver sustainable and profitable growth.
You will be accountable for defining, planning, and executing sales strategies to achieve both qualitative and quantitative targets across products, systems, and services. This includes ensuring order growth, revenue, market share, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
You will also play a key leadership role by developing and coaching a high-performing sales team, fostering a strong performance culture and collaboration across business functions.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid
This role is contributing to: Motion High Power Drives Division in Japan.
Main stakeholders: Customers, channel partners, local and regional business leadership, product management, service teams, and operations.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Driving execution of the sales strategy to achieve growth targets and improve market share in Japan
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team of sales managers and specialists to deliver high performance
- Identifying new business opportunities with existing and potential customers, and developing strategic account plans
- Monitoring performance, anticipating shortfalls, and implementing corrective actions proactively
- Strengthening customer relationships and ensuring high customer satisfaction through structured engagement and feedback
- Leading key negotiations and closing strategic contracts
- Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure alignment of sales, service, and operations
You will join a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performing team focused on innovation, customer success, and market leadership in the Motion Drives sector.
Qualifications for the role
- Extensive experience in sales leadership within industrial automation, drives, motors, or related sectors
- Proven track record of delivering growth and managing complex sales organizations
- Strong understanding of the Japan industrial market and customer landscape
- Experience in managing channel partners and key accounts
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies aligned with business objectives
- Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and influencing capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field (MBA is a plus)
- Fluency in Japanese and business-level English
