Job Summary & Responsibilities
As a Sales Manager with Opry Entertainment Group (OEG), you'll sell and organize private events,ensuring the success and profitability of a multi-experiential live music venue, bar and restaurant. You'll execute sales strategies and target market segments as defined by venue and corporate leadership. As the ideal candidate, you'll model teamwork, service and integrity to foster a positive and productive work environment to deliver exceptional service to guests through unforgettable experiences. Reports to General Manager.
- Generate new business by conducting strategic sales calls, external client visits, and presentations to potential clients. Manage special event inquiries, negotiate event space, assist with development of catering menus, prepare event proposals and conduct site inspections.
- Represent the Company in communicating with prospective clients, event planners, and vendors. Coordinate availability and place holds, conduct site visits, prepare budget estimates, and communicate venue policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Generate new business opportunities through proactive cold calling, and successfully negotiate and close contracts. Identify, cultivate, and evaluate potential business opportunities from existing corporate and entertainment clients.
- Monitor trends in the local sales/special events market. Develop strategies to improve and adapt to evolving conditions.
- Ensure all invoices and paperwork are submitted to Accounting department accurately and within established deadlines. Oversee the collection of all payments prior to each event. Maintain procedural documentation to meet all internal accounting, audit and financial controls.
- Participate in weekly meetings with operations management to review upcoming events. Attend pre-shift briefings with staff on event nights to ensure operational readiness.
- Assist with developing and enhancing catering and banquet menus that promote upselling opportunities based on dynamic pricing opportunities.
- Submit monthly reports, including PACE, Monthly Sales Plan, site visits, and cross-sell opportunities. Responsible for financial aspects of promoting and selling venue and achieving overall financial sales goals/targets. Provide updates on strategies and financials at monthly operating reviews.
- Ensure events are accurately scheduled in event management system to prevent conflicts with other departments and to identify and maximize booking opportunities.
- Communicate and uphold all corporate standards, guidelines, policies and procedures in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. Maintain personal integrity by abiding by and supporting the values and principles of the company. Follow and support brand SOPs. Participate and respond to the annual company audits.

Education
- Degree in business-related field preferred or equivalent additional experience required
Experience
- 4+ years' experience in event and catering sales preferred
- Experience using event calendar/tracking system such as Tripleseat Guest & Event Management

Licenses / Certifications
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record required
Physical Requirements
Speak and hear to communicate and use both near and far vision. Frequently sit with some walking and standing. Occasionally climb, sit, kneel, bend, steps up/down and reach above shoulder. Regularly traverse stairs and walk on uneven terrain, often while carrying product. Frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs. Continually use gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills for computer use.
Working Conditions
In-office position, based in venue. Moderate background noise typical of a collaborative office setting. Occasionally in entertainment and restaurant venue with large crowds and elevated noise levels.
Skills Required
