AvMed, a division of Sentara Health in the Florida Market, is looking to hire a Large Group Sales Executive / Commercial Health Insurance in the Tampa, Orlando & North Florida area.

Territory: Tampa, Orlando, Central Florida & North Florida (Jacksonville)

AvMed is seeking an experienced and results-driven Large Group Sales Executive to lead growth within Florida's commercial employer market.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a top-performing health insurance sales professional who thrives on developing broker relationships, closing complex opportunities, and helping employers deliver high-quality healthcare solutions to their employees.

We're looking for a strategic seller with deep expertise in group health insurance, broker distribution, and employer-sponsored benefits, who can confidently navigate sophisticated sales cycles while building long-term partnerships throughout the Florida market.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive New Business Growth

  • Develop and execute a territory growth strategy focused on employer groups with 51+ eligible employees.
  • Cultivate relationships with brokers, consultants, and employer decisionmakers to drive profitable new business.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through proposal, negotiation, implementation, and close.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities through broker partners, direct prospecting, networking, and community engagement.
  • Consistently meet or exceed membership, revenue, and sales growth goals.

Build Elite Broker Relationships

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to brokers, consultants, and strategic partners.
  • Conduct regular broker visits and agency meetings throughout the territory.
  • Educate broker partners on products, funding arrangements, network offerings, wellness programs, and value-added services.
  • Develop and execute joint business plans with key agencies and consulting firms.
  • Maintain strong visibility and influence within the Florida broker community.

Lead Complex Sales Opportunities

  • Manage RFPs, ITNs, and finalist presentations from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, implementation, client management, and operations teams to develop competitive solutions.
  • Present solutions to executives, HR leaders, CFOs, benefit committees, and other key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate plan offerings and pricing strategies within established guidelines.
  • Ensure a seamless transition from sale to implementation.

Be a Market Leader

  • Represent AvMed at industry events, professional associations, chambers of commerce, and community functions.
  • Monitor healthcare industry trends, regulatory changes, funding innovations, and competitive market activity.
  • Identify opportunities to expand broker relationships and increase market share.
  • Provide leadership with marketplace intelligence and competitive insights.

Education

  • Associate degree and 2 years of related experience required; OR

Certification:

  • Must obtain a Florida 2-40 Health Insurance License within 90 days of hire or the broader 2-15 Health & Life License.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of healthcare sales experience required.
  • Commercial employer group sales experience required.
  • Demonstrated success selling through brokers and consultants.
  • Experience managing RFPs, ITNs, finalist presentations, negotiations, and implementations.
  • Strong understanding of the Florida health insurance marketplace and competitive landscape.
  • Established relationships with broker agencies and consulting firms highly preferred.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $67,891.20 - $102,440.00 annually. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Note: If an annual salary is posted, it is based on a full-time colleague working 2,080 hours annually.
