Summary
The Sales Engineer sales orders by visiting customers and assisting customers in choosing the best refractory products for their application. In additional Sales will be responsible to perform above duties for key corporate accounts in strategic industries as requested. The Sales provides expert technical assistance through the sales lifecycle from selection to installation of the product and is focused on obtaining the maximum amount of business with the best profit margin. The position is responsible for ongoing relationship development with key customers as well as guiding less experienced salespeople as required. Sales is considered technically advanced and self-sufficient with the majority of their time spent maintaining key/essential business for Calderys and developing strategic plans alongside Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Soliciting sales orders from key corporate customers; providing customer service and expert technical support and resolving customer problems
- Making sales and product presentations both internally and externally
- Monitoring the sales order lifecycle, providing support and eliminating obstacles where needed and expediting orders
- Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for new sales members, assisting with onboarding and sales training.
- Providing timely and accurate sales quotations and proving timely follow up to customer inquiries/complaints
- Reviewing sales budgets and miscellaneous company data
Requirements
- Requires B.S. Degree in Business, Engineering, Ceramics, Chemistry or related field experience
- Requires advanced knowledge of refractory applications in all product areas, construction skills, sales and communication skills and some chemistry knowledge.
- Requires computer literacy in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Oracle CRM
- Requires five (5+) years of industrial experience with emphasis in refractory products.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time standing, talking or hearing and less than 1/3 of time sitting, walking, using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling and tasting/smelling.
- Lifting: 50 pounds less than 1/3 of the time.
- Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception.
- Environment: Requires 1/3 of time working in an office setting, working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposed to outdoor weather, wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, vibration.
- Noise: Requires working in various conditions from office to plant floor (PPE required at times).
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Ceramics, Chemistry, or a related field
- Five or more years of industrial experience, emphasizing refractory products
- Advanced knowledge of refractory applications across all product areas
- Construction skills
- Sales and communication skills
- Some chemistry knowledge
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Oracle CRM
