The Sales Engineer is an early-career presales professional who supports the sales team by assisting with technical discovery, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept activities. The SE I works closely with senior Sales Engineers and Account Managers to learn consultative selling skills, develop technical expertise, and gain hands-on experience with Sunbird’s solutions and customer use cases. This is a remote position, but candidate must reside in United States.
This role is focused on building foundational SE skills, understanding customer environments, and contributing to presales engagements under guidance and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with customer demonstrations of Sunbird’s solutions for small to midsize clients, helping prepare demo environments, datasets, and scenarios aligned to customer use cases.
- Support proof-of-concept (POC) activities for small to midsize clients by helping execute defined POC plans, tracking progress, and assisting with customer questions
- Serve as a technical support resource to the sales/ISR team, responding to technical questions with guidance and escalating complex topics as needed.
- Support and maintain demo labs and environments, ensuring presales assets and demo materials—including systems, slides, documentation, and reference content—are current, clean and ready for customer engagements.
- Assist with technical RFP responses by gathering information, drafting sections, and coordinating with internal teams.
- Update and maintain CRM records (currently HubSpot), ensuring accurate tracking of POCs, demos, and technical engagements.
- Contribute to building and maintaining the Sales Engineering documentation repository, including demo guides, discovery templates, use-case narratives, POC playbooks, and internal best practices to support consistent, high-quality customer engagements.
Skills/Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in a technical, IT, or customer-facing role (presales experience a plus).
- Foundational understanding of data center operations, DCIM, IT infrastructure, or related technologies.
- Strong desire to develop consultative selling and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with guidance and preparation.
- Strong organizational skills and willingness to learn in a fast-paced sales environment.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with sales, SEs, and cross-functional teams.
- Product certification, engineering degree, or equivalent technical background preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills and fluency in English required; additional languages a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 15–20% as needed.
