As a Federal Civilian Sales Engineer, you are the technical force behind the deal — the person who turns a federal customer's mission problem into a working, configured solution they can see and believe in. Filevine's platform supports the full range of government case-management use cases, and this role owns the technical proof. You will architect and configure the system to fit each agency's specific workflows, run compelling demos for technical and non-technical audiences, and serve as the trusted technical advisor throughout the evaluation. You will partner closely with Account Executives across the civilian pipeline, translating requirements into solutions and giving evaluators the confidence to move forward.
This is a critical, versatile role. You must be able to work across many case-management types and use cases, configure the platform to support them, and speak the language of the federal customer. We are building a small, elite team to attack this market, and the Sales Engineer is the technical linchpin of every deal.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary technical advisor for federal civilian customers evaluating Filevine, from initial discovery through technical validation and selection.
Configure and tailor the platform across case-management use cases building demo environments and working configurations that map to each agency's specific workflows and requirements.
Design and deliver compelling demonstrations that translate complex capability into clear mission value for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Architect the solution into the customer's environment advising on setup, integration, workflow design, and deployment within federal constraints.
Partner closely with Account Executives translating agency requirements into configured solutions and giving evaluators the confidence to move a deal forward.
Bring workflow-management and AI fluency to every engagement showing agencies how to model their processes in the platform and how Filevine's AI capabilities apply to their mission.
Act as the voice of the customer feeding field insight and requirements back to Product and Engineering to shape the roadmap for the federal market.
Qualifications:
5+ years in a technical pre-sales role — Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Forward Deployed Engineer, or similar — ideally serving federal or public-sector customers.
Demonstrated ability to configure and tailor a software platform across multiple use cases, not just demo a fixed script — you can make the product do what the customer needs.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, able to win the trust of both technical evaluators and senior agency leadership.
Familiarity with federal security and compliance expectations (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, ATO) and how they shape solution design; hands-on with cloud architecture a plus.
The ability to work across many problem types and flex into different domains based on the mission at hand.
A conceptual, driven, and detail-oriented approach — the technical linchpin who also gets into the configuration and makes it work.
Fluency in workflow management preferred — modeling real business processes into a configurable system.
Genuine AI literacy preferred — you can explain and apply AI capabilities credibly and translate them into mission value.

Filevine Compensation & Benefits Highlights
The following summarizes recurring compensation and benefits themes identified from responses generated by popular LLMs to common candidate questions about Filevine and has not been reviewed or approved by Filevine.
-
Healthcare Strength — Health coverage is described as covering the major bases (medical, dental, vision) and is often framed as decent quality. In some cases, premiums and copays are portrayed as relatively favorable, suggesting tangible value from the plans.
-
Parental & Family Support — Paid parental leave is positioned as a standard, clearly offered benefit. The presence of parental leave alongside disability coverage signals baseline family-support provisions typical of growth-stage tech employers.
-
Fair & Transparent Compensation — Compensation is sometimes framed as fair or reasonable relative to role expectations, with technical roles in particular appearing closer to market-aligned ranges. This creates pockets where pay is perceived as competitive even if not consistently top-of-market across the company.
