As a Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering ABB's automation solutions to customers across the energy and industrial sectors. Working with some of Hungary's leading companies in industries such as energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and infrastructure, you will develop existing customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, and drive product, project, and service sales.

More than a traditional sales role, this position combines technical expertise with consultative selling. By working closely with Sales Support, Product Management, Service, and Project teams, you will help customers identify the right mix of automation systems, digital solutions, and services to improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of their operations.

Work model: Hybrid (2–3 days per week visiting customers and/or working from the office, 1–2 days working from home)

Your responsibilities:

  • Sell ABB automation products, systems, and project and service solutions to both existing and new customers

  • Strengthen existing customer relationships while actively identifying and developing new business opportunities (approximately 50% existing customers and 50% new business development)

  • Identify, develop, and drive both product and project sales opportunities

  • Promote and sell PLC and DCS solutions, digital and cybersecurity offerings, as well as energy management software

  • Support the preparation and sales of end-to-end automation projects

  • Understand customer technical requirements and recommend the most suitable ABB solutions

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, system integrators, OEMs, and channel partners

  • Plan and conduct regular customer meetings, both on-site and online

  • Keep Salesforce up to date, including pipeline management, opportunities, forecasts, and visit reports

  • Prepare sales forecasts and contribute to business planning

  • Provide technical support for marketing and product marketing activities, including technical review of marketing materials and product-related content

We are looking for you if you:

  • Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering.

  • Have professional experience in industrial automation

  • Enjoy combining engineering expertise with business development and customer engagement

  • Are eager to learn new technologies, and motivated to create value for customers through technology.

  • Build strong relationships with customers and collaborate effectively with colleagues across different functions

  • Have a solid understanding of industrial processes and automation technologies

  • Can manage your own workload effectively while handling multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Are fluent in Hungarian and have confident English communication skills, enabling you to collaborate with international ABB colleagues and manufacturing sites on a daily basis

  • Hold a valid Category B driving licence and are comfortable travelling regularly to customer sites across Hungary

  • Are EU national or hold Hungarian VISA/work per

    It is an advantage if you have:

    • Experience with DCS systems, PLCs, and industrial control systems

    • Previous experience at a system integrator or an industrial automation company

    • Experience in project sales

    • Experience working in an international or multinational environment

    • Industry knowledge within Energy, Pharma, Food & Beverage, or other Process Industries

    • Experience using Salesforce or other CRM platforms

    Skills Required
