The role of the Sales Development Representative:
The Sales Development Representative at Upwards is a vital part of our sales team. They are the first point of contact when we reach out to prospective clients. The goal of this role is to find potential customers that are interested in helping solve the childcare crisis in the United States by identifying opportunities for them to add childcare benefits to their employee's total rewards programs. You do this by getting to know their challenges and ensuring it is a match for both Upwards and the potential customer. The objective of this role is to build enterprise sales pipeline by booking qualified discovery meetings with our Account Executives.
In this role, you will (job role and responsibilities):
- Customer-Centricity: We want to ensure that our customers always have great service. In this role, you will be the first point of contact with a potential customer. You will ensure that you are focused on understanding their needs and wants and discern if Upwards is a potential fit.
- Outbound: Using various methods such as cold calling, social media outreach, and cold emailing, you will reach out to potential customers to see if they are interested in Upwards.
- Market-Focused: You will assist with our Go-To-Market Strategy by focusing on finding customers in specific markets and regions. You will learn about our ideal customers and their needs, so when you contact them, you will know if it will be a match.
- HubSpot: Using our CRM, you will be working out of HubSpot and other sales tools to craft personalized emails, add notes to files, and share your results and information with other members of the sales team. We want to make sure all the information is stored and accurate.
- Relationships-Building: Relationship-building never stops. You will continue to nurture relationships with potential customers to see when they are ready to work with Upwards.
- Collaboration: you will work closely with the sales team to create strategies, and execute those strategies and review to see what worked and where things can improve. Once you have found a prospective client, you will book meetings with the appropriate Account Executive.
What we are looking for in a candidate:
- Previous experience in a similar role as a Sales Development Representative or Business Development Representative.
- Educational Background in Business, Sales, and Marketing.
- Strong willingness to go the extra mile and exceed expectations. We really like assertiveness in our organization. Seeing beyond what your role is and how it impacts our mission.
- Ability to overcome objections and blockers. You don’t take no for an answer.
- Can quickly think and make sound decisions. Questions will come your way, but you are ready.
- Preferably resides in San Francisco but not required.
- Must be willing to be flexible with various working hours (Pacific, Mountain, Central, and East Coast hours)
- Must be willing to travel
