Job Description
The Sales Development Representative serves as the first point of contact for prospective customers, generating interest through lead sourcing, cold calling, marketing and outreach efforts. They represent the organization at trade shows and events, engaging prospects, and identifying potential sales opportunities. This role focuses on building early stage pipelines by qualifying leads and routing high potential prospects to the appropriate sales channels.
What You'll Do
- Generate qualified sales opportunities through outbound prospecting activities, including cold calling, email campaigns, social selling, and lead follow-up.
- Research, identify, and engage prospective customers to build a consistent pipeline of sales opportunities.
- Qualify leads by assessing business needs, decision-making authority, budget, timing, and overall fit.
- Schedule and coordinate qualified meetings for Account Executives and other sales team members.
- Conduct high-volume outreach activities while meeting established performance metrics for calls, emails, meetings, and pipeline generation.
- Follow up on marketing-generated leads and campaigns, including webinars, trade shows, events, and digital marketing initiatives.
- Promote products and services using consultative and solution-based selling techniques.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, networking events, and industry functions to generate interest and identify prospective customers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date prospect, account, and activity records within CRM systems.
- Monitor prospect engagement and ensure timely follow-up throughout the qualification process.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to support pipeline development and lead conversion efforts.
- Stay informed on market trends, competitive offerings, and industry developments to effectively position company solutions.
- Consistently achieve or exceed established activity, pipeline, and lead qualification goals.
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 1+ years of experience in sales, business development, customer engagement, relationship management, or related roles.
- Strong prospecting, lead qualification, and customer engagement skills.
- Comfortable conducting frequent phone-based outreach and engaging prospective customers.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Energetic phone presence with strong active listening and questioning abilities.
- Ability to communicate value propositions clearly and persuasively.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Highly motivated with a strong desire to achieve performance goals and sales metrics.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn new systems, tools, and sales technologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365; experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms preferred.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Coachable mindset with a willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continuously develop sales skills.
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to represent the company positively in customer interactions and public-facing events.
