Job Description

The Sales Development Program is a comprehensive 2 year program designed to take an “A” player who doesn’t know our industry, and give them the training, coaching and mentoring to become a successful Account Manager. You will become familiar with every product, service, procedure and person, adding an invaluable group of contacts and friendships to your network. 

You will get the opportunity to work in all the supporting roles in a high performing business as you learn the ropes from the ground up. At the end of the training program you will have the tools, resources and training to be successful in this new career. Your key program segments include:

Warehouse: 6 months - You will develop product knowledge (shipping, receiving, picking orders, stocking goods), complete our health & safety program, have accountability of products and order logistics, and develop an understanding of warehouse importance in customer satisfaction. This is the “foundation” phase and the focus is on learning the culture of our company.

Operations: 3 months - You will learn to manage the inside counter, interact with customers and provide solutions (learning technical aspects, manage physical inventory and promote sales). This is the “quality” phase where you learn how to apply customer service principles in our business.

Inside Sales: 9 months - You will work with customers and vendors to further develop relationships, maximize profitable opportunities (learning the procurement process, project estimation, project management and pricing set ups). This is the “quantity” phase where you implement your learning to grow yourself personality.

Account Manager: 6 months - You will work with one of our Outside Account Managers and develop skills needed to service current business accounts and develop new opportunities (contract negotiations, strategies to sell products, develop understanding of sales cycle). This is the “franchise” phase where you apply your entrepreneurial attributes to grow professionally.

Candidates in our Sales Development Program are highly valued and have tremendous opportunities to benefit from world class training and mentoring throughout the duration of the structured program.  You will gain the experience and skill to be successful in our business, and have lots of fun along the way.  On completion of the program the aim will be for the candidate to start their career as a fully trained Account Manager. 

Qualifications

  • College and/or University degree
  • Positive attitude and results oriented mindset
  • Desire to continuously learn and grow
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high standard of integrity
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and teammates
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
