Sales Development Manager – Advanced Materials (Industrial & Coatings Adhesives)
Huntsman is seeking a Sales Development Manager – Advanced Materials (Industrial & Coatings Adhesives) supporting the Advanced Materials – Industrial & Coatings Adhesives Division located in Preferred Houston, TX | Open to Remote (USA). This position will report to the Sales Leader.
Job Scope
The Sales Development Manager is a senior, hybrid commercial role combining business development (hunter) and account management (farmer) within the Advanced Materials business. This individual will personally drive new business creation while leading a small inside sales team that supports execution, customer engagement, and pipeline development. The role is designed for a high-impact seller with leadership capability, someone who thrives in technically complex, long-cycle sales environments. The Sales Development & Team Lead will focus on epoxy-based industrial adhesives while helping expand the business into adjacent thermoplastic opportunities.
In summary, as the Sales Development Manager – Advanced Materials (Industrial & Coatings Adhesives), you will:
- Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities within Industrial & Coatings adhesive markets.
- Drive penetration into existing thermoset segments and expand into targeted thermoplastic opportunities.
- Lead long-cycle sales efforts (6–18 months) involving technical qualification, trials, and commercialization.
- Work closely with technical subject matter experts to position solutions effectively.
- Build relationships beyond procurement into engineering, R&D, and operations.
- Manage a portfolio of mid-sized and smaller customers.
- Develop account strategies to expand share, applications, and long-term partnerships.
- Ensure customer satisfaction while balancing growth and margin objectives.
- Accurately forecast customers demand monthly to ensure appropriate production.
- Act as escalation point for order & receivables issues as they arise.
- Manage territory P&L and act as “CEO of territory” with strong grasp and influence over financial metrics
- Accurately forecast pipeline and revenue.
- Provide market and competitive insights to commercial leadership.
- Strong commercial process adherence – precall planning, call reports, account planning, complaint resolution, “Way 2 Sell” process adherence.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or Business or related field
5+ years of commercial experience in adhesives, epoxy chemistries, advanced materials, or specialty chemicals
Skills and knowledge
- Demonstrated success in new business development within technically complex B2B environments
- Strong technical aptitude; comfortable engaging in application-level discussions
- Proven ability to manage multiple opportunities with long qualification cycles
Working Environment
- Willingness to travel extensively (50–70%)
