Job Description

Your responsibilities as Sales Consultant Controls and Systems Engineering for an Amazon domain, focusing on controls and systems engineering. Together with the Sales Manager you will make an important contribution to sales success in the pre-contract phase of a project. Your tasks include identifying customer needs, developing and evaluating the right logistics solutions, leading the preparation of sales proposals and presenting these to customers. With a strong background in engineering and integration of Amazon systems you will build and maintain together with the Sales Manager and the rest of the Sales Engineering team a constructive working relation with the customer and define the appropriate sales tactics.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Identify the customer’s automation needs and corresponding process requirements.
  • Guide the selection and use of appropriate equipment Determine control schemes and E/M equipment manifests for estimating and pricing the MHE systems during the bid and preliminary firm engineering phases of a project Manage and be aware of compliance with customer specifications and requirements, lead specification reviews with appropriate Vanderlande teams to fully vet compliance requirements and Vanderlande’s adherence to.
  • Lead technical reviews both internally and with the client. Develop front end system architecture for the bidding phase and assist firm engineering and operations teams to refine and implement control architecture. 
  • Develop preliminary pricing estimates and methodology.
  • Train colleagues and lead implementation across multiple teams to standardize methodology and way of working Design conceptual and preliminary operational solutions based on throughput data, process analysis, critical business drivers,  technical requirements and the customers’ business case for medium to large sized projects.
  • Convert a conceptual solution into a system design and associated high-level process design.
  • Based on analytical intelligence and experience, identify the key aspects of concepts and associated impact on operations particularly focused on control systems and MHE system operation. 
  • Optimize solutions based on conflicting requirements and needs.
  • Works on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast past high pressure environment, quick turnaround on concepts, analysis and system pricing Support the conceptual part of the solution during the Joint Design phase of the project with the bid manager and sales team.
  • Stay involved throughout project life cycle ensuring smooth transitions from sales to operations to execution and integrating feedback to streamline the project cycles.
  • Support and maintain the integrity of conceptual design during detailed engineering, system implementation, and system operation with your Amazon colleagues in Veghel, Mönchengladbach, Seattle and Marietta.
  • Responsible for accurate development and validation of sales price for any sized project and complexity of projects with your team

Experience:

  • Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in relevant study (Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Electro-mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or similar discipline)
  • 15-20 years of design, operational, and commissioning experience (or a combination of these)
  • Systems design knowledge; experience designing material handling systems for warehousing or parcel customers preferred
  • Analytical ability to structure and solve logistics problems and the ability to interpret and extrapolate relevant information from multiple sources
  • Sales acumen and ability to direct pricing influences on design strategies
  • 10-15 years estimating project pricing including mechanical and electrical components, organization hours for design, development, and integration.  Also should have some experience estimating installation duration, pricing, and a minimum of 10 years of one site project engineering experience,
  • Influencing skills both internally and towards customers at a senior management
  • Capability to build strong professional customer relations
  • Train, coach and lead sales engineers
  • Ability to multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial international organization, often working across organizational, geographic, and cultural boundaries
  • Willing to travel domestic and internationally (up to 5-10% of your time)
