Job Description:

The Sales Applications Engineer at Altera Semiconductor Technology Japan GK will be a key technical resource supporting sales activities for Altera's programmable logic devices (FPGAs, CPLDs, and SoCs) and related design software. This role involves working closely with customers to understand their technical requirements, demonstrate Altera's solutions, and provide technical guidance throughout the sales cycle to secure design wins and drive revenue growth.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-depth technical support to sales teams and customers on Altera's product portfolio, including architectural discussions, performance analysis, and feature explanations.

  • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and hands-on workshops for customers, showcasing the value proposition of Altera's solutions.

  • Collaborate with customers to understand their system-level requirements and propose optimal Altera solutions, including device selection, IP integration, and software development flows.

  • Assist customers with initial design implementations, debug issues, and provide guidance on best practices for achieving performance, power, and area targets.

  • Develop and present technical proposals, competitive analyses, and ROI justifications to support sales engagements.

  • Act as a technical liaison between customers and Altera's engineering and product development teams, providing valuable customer feedback for future product enhancements.

  • Participate in account planning and strategy sessions with the sales team to identify new opportunities and accelerate design wins.

  • Stay up-to-date with Altera's product roadmap, industry trends, and competitive landscape.

  • May require domestic and occasional international travel to customer sites and company events.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a technical role, preferably in applications engineering, design engineering, or field applications engineering, within the semiconductor industry.

  • Strong understanding of FPGA architecture, digital design principles, and embedded systems.

  • Proficiency with HDL languages (VHDL/Verilog) and experience with FPGA design tools (e.g., Quartus Prime).

  • Experience with embedded processors (e.g., ARM, Nios II) and associated software development.

  • Familiarity with various communication protocols (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet, USB) and memory interfaces (e.g., DDR).

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Fluent in Japanese and English (both written and verbal) is essential for this role in Japan.
