As part of the Sales & Use Tax team, this role assists in all stages of the sales and use tax compliance process – data gathering, return preparation, timely filings of assigned returns, payment requests and reconciliations. This position will also assist in providing technical tax guidance for internal customers on various business transactions and assist on indirect tax audits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Accurate and timely filing of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preparation of sales and use tax returns, as well as some GST (ABM’s geographic footprint includes all 50 states and most Canadian provinces).
- Prepare check requests and/or wire payments for corresponding tax returns.
- Maintain and update tax calendar.
- Assist in requesting new tax registrations as directed.
- Respond directly to taxing authorities as assigned.
- Communicate with internal and external customers on technical sales and use tax matters on a wide variety of business transactions and contemplated transactions.
- Review and research taxability of internal tax codes as necessary.
- Assist in the maintenance of sales/use tax certificates utilizing third party tax program.
- Prepare account reconciliations of the sales and use tax accounts.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize information is critical.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of multi-state sales and use tax experience, or 3 years plus 2 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with Vertex sales and use tax preparation software is preferred. Vertex O Series is a plus.
- Experience researching multi-state transaction tax issues.
- Experience working with revenue/tax agencies for state and local jurisdictions.
- Understanding of legal entity reporting structures.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access), advanced Excel skill preferred.
- Knowledge of PivotTables and VLOOKUPs, a plus.
- Experience with JD Edwards, Oracle, or other ERP, preferred
