Role Overview:

The Sales Agronomist is responsible for managing existing accounts, developing new business opportunities, and providing agronomic expertise to customers within the assigned territory. This role partners closely with growers and agricultural professionals to deliver solutions that improve crop performance and profitability while driving territory growth and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate may be hired at one of three levels based on education, experience, technical expertise, sales performance, and demonstrated leadership capabilities.

  • Develop and maintain profitable customer relationships within the assigned territory.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities to drive territory growth.
  • Provide agronomic recommendations and product solutions based on customer needs.
  • Support customers with crop planning, fertility, crop protection, seed, and technology recommendations.
  • Implement sales and marketing plans to achieve territory goals.
  • Collaborate with operations, procurement, and sales leadership to ensure customer success.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities.
  • Manage customer accounts while following company credit and risk management policies.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding products, services, deliveries, and issue resolution.
  • Stay current on agronomic trends, technology, products, and local market conditions.

What You Bring to the Role:

Level I – Early Career Sales Agronomist

Typically, appropriate for candidates beginning their agronomy or agricultural sales career.

  • 1-2 years of agriculture, agronomy, crop consulting, retail sales, or related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of crop production, fertilizers, crop protection products, and seed.
  • Strong willingness to learn agronomic and sales skills.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance from management and senior team members.
  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or related field preferred.
  • Base salary range: $51,500-$68,710

Level II – Sales Agronomist

Typically, appropriate for experienced agricultural sales professionals with demonstrated territory management experience.

  • 3-5 years of agricultural sales, agronomy, crop consulting, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships and grow a territory.
  • Strong working knowledge of local crops, production practices, and agronomic solutions.
  • Experience developing and implementing sales plans.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and recommend value-added solutions.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across functional teams.
  • Base salary range: $58,200-$77,540

Level III – Sales Agronomist

Typically, appropriate for highly experienced agronomic sales professionals with demonstrated leadership and business impact.

  • 5+ years of successful agricultural sales or agronomy experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of local agricultural markets, crop production systems, and agronomic solutions.
  • Proven record of territory growth, customer retention, and business development.
  • Experience mentoring less experienced agronomists or sales professionals.
  • Ability to lead customer presentations, training events, and strategic business discussions.
  • Strong financial acumen including forecasting, budgeting, and business planning.
  • Demonstrated leadership, influence, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Base salary range: $65,800-$87,680

Compensation and Benefits:
