Scope:

The Sales Account Specialist serves as a strategic business partner to the Sales team, supporting assigned retail accounts through forecasting, planning, sales analysis, promotional execution, and customer relationship management. This role works closely with Account Managers, retailers, vendors, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure successful execution of sales initiatives, accurate forecasting, and on-time delivery of customer requirements. The Sales Account Specialist proactively identifies opportunities to improve sales performance, resolves customer issues, monitors key business metrics, and manages projects that support growth and operational excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Account & Customer Management

  • Support assigned retail accounts by partnering closely with Account Managers on day-to-day customer activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customer requests and operational inquiries
  • Track Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation and resolve customer shipment inquiries
  • Coordinate issue resolution between Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Purchasing, and Logistics

Forecasting & Sales Planning

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze customer sales forecasts
  • Partner with Account Managers to review demand trends and recommend forecast adjustments
  • Participate in annual sales planning, budgeting, and promotional planning
  • Monitor inventory and recommend actions to maximize sales opportunities while minimizing excess inventory

Promotional & Project Management

  • Coordinate retailer promotional programs from planning through execution
  • Manage customer and vendor projects to ensure milestones and deadlines are achieved
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Vendor Services to execute promotions and product launches
  • Coordinate new product launches, assortment changes, and retailer initiatives

Sales Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze customer sales performance and identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc business reports, scorecards, dashboards, and executive presentations
  • Provide recommendations to Sales leadership using sales and market data
  • Monitor promotional performance and return on investment

Operational Excellence

  • Track customer purchase orders, Proof of Delivery (POD), promotional compliance, and order status
  • Monitor customer deductions and assist with issue resolution
  • Improve sales processes and identify operational efficiencies
  • Maintain forecasting tools, sales reports, and customer databases
  • Ensure data integrity across ERP and customer systems

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Train and mentor Sales Administrators and new team members
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Sales organization
  • Exercise independent judgment in resolving customer, vendor, and operational issues
  • Lead cross-functional projects supporting sales growth and customer satisfaction

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Walmart and Sam's Club systems, including Retail Link, Item 360, and Scintilla
  • 5+ years of experience in sales operations, account support, retail planning, forecasting, customer management, or a related role
  • Experience working with major retail accounts and consumer products
  • Strong forecasting, analytical, and business planning skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, lookups, and forecasting models
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics GP, and retailer portals
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong customer service and relationship management abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority

Skills Required
