The Role

Sales Account Executive

(Remote, Full-time)

Coursemojo is a leading ed-tech company, which has developed a best-in-class, curriculum-aligned, AI-powered assistant teacher. “Mojo” is designed to bridge the gap that exists between the high-quality instructional materials that districts have adopted and the diversity of student needs that exist in classrooms, especially with the learning gaps from the pandemic. With the goal of supporting both teachers and diverse learners, “Mojo” helps educators differentiate instruction by providing each student (MLL, students with IEPs, advanced students, struggling readers) with targeted, Socratic, one-on-one and small group support (in 50+ languages) in the context of either core class instruction or intervention support. Here’s the latest Mojo demo.

Coursemojo is looking for a Sales Account Executive to help develop and expand its sales and partnerships capacity. This person will report to the co-CEO, Dacia Toll, who has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the ed sector.

Why is this role important?

We plan to launch ~15 paid, modestly-sized district pilots (~500 students each) at the beginning of the ‘24-25 school year and will then look to build upon early successes and learnings to seed new sales for the spring semester and beyond. This role will be critical to extending our sales capacity beyond our co-CEO, and helping us hone our pitch and sales strategy to potential district clients. This role will also add critical capacity to partnerships with other sector-leading organizations, such as associations and PL providers, that act as strong referral sources and distribution channels.

In the early days, this role will also take on select special projects as needed (notably customer success support for early school-based pilots) which will provide an excellent opportunity to build deep product knowledge.

The ideal candidate has both a proven ability to sell and previous experience in education (e.g., teaching, school leadership, or edtech product implementation) that they can leverage to partner meaningfully with prospective clients and close sales that will result in strong partnerships.

What will you do?

  • Own advanced work and follow-up for sales meetings, conferences, webinars, etc.
  • Support the development of partnerships with other sector-leading organizations who serve as referral sources and distribution channels for Mojo
  • Develop sales collateral and tailor for varied stakeholders in advance of calls, conferences, etc.
  • Support preparation, review, and finalization of sales proposals and quotes
  • Support the launch of short pilots of Mojo with our largest customer prospects
  • Lead contracting and billing processes for all Coursemojo clients
  • Maintain and update customer records and forecasting in Salesforce

Special Projects (20% to start; to decrease)

  • Provide customer support to 1-2 school/district clients
  • Until a marketing lead is hired, support the design and execution of strategic marketing campaigns

What are we looking for?Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with direct sales to schools/school districts; proven sales skills; more experienced candidates will be compensated at a higher level than less experienced candidates
  • Education or educational technology experience beyond sales (e.g. former teacher/school leader, customer support role with edtech company)
  • Excellent oral and written communicator
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the month; due to the expected travel requirements for this role, the ideal candidate is close to a major airport
  • Ability to manage up
  • Ability to self-direct and manage conflicting priorities and change across multiple projects
  • Self-motivated with a natural drive to pursue excellence
  • Strong sense of ownership: will work cross-functionally and own outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity and proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack and Zoom

Preferred (Not Required)

None are required, but checking at least one of the boxes below is highly desired:

Where is this position located?

This is a full-time, fully remote position with travel up to 30% of the month.

What is the compensation for this position?

At Coursemojo, we are committed to equitable, transparent, and rewarding compensation for our teammates. We base our salaries for every position on three factors: 1) benchmark data for similar roles, 2) a candidate’s level of experience, and 3) a candidate’s geographic location.
