Position Summary

The Safety Training Manager leads site safety and delivers in-house certification training on active hyperscale data center construction projects. This field-based role carries full site-safety authority and combines hands-on training delivery with OSHA compliance oversight, safety program management, and workforce certification across trades and subcontractors. The Safety Training Manager is responsible for driving safety culture, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring all site personnel are trained, certified, and prepared to work safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and administer the site Health and Safety Plan, ensuring full compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards across all trades.
  • Monitor and report safety performance metrics including TRIR, DART, and leading indicators; identify trends and drive corrective actions.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses; complete root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are closed out effectively.
  • Maintain OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 recordkeeping, SDS library, training matrix, and all project safety documentation.
  • Represent the company to OSHA, insurance carriers, and owner-representative safety teams.
  • Enforce site safety standards and stop-work authority when conditions pose risk to personnel or the project.
  • Deliver in-house Smith System driver training, IVES forklift, aerial lift, and MEWP operator certification, OSHA 10 and 30, and First Aid, AED, and CPR courses to the site workforce.
  • Conduct new-hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, task-specific training, and OSHA 10/30-Hour Outreach for workers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain current trainer certifications and ensure all training records, course completions, and operator certifications are accurately documented.
  • Develop and update training materials to reflect current regulatory requirements, site conditions, and project-specific hazards.
  • Mentor and support Site Safety Coordinators, providing guidance on compliance, hazard recognition, and safety program execution.
  • Collaborate with project management, superintendents, and subcontractor safety personnel to align safety requirements with construction activities.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, daily huddles, and project coordination meetings to integrate safety into all phases of work.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support projects, operations, and the department.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in construction safety management, including 5+ years on mission-critical, industrial, or hyperscale data center projects.
  • CHST required; CSP strongly preferred.
  • Smith System Certified Trainer, IVES Certified Trainer (forklift, AWP, and MEWP), and current First Aid, AED, and CPR Instructor certification (AHA or ARC) required.
  • OSHA 500 Authorized Outreach Trainer for Construction required, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Construction Management preferred.
  • STS-C, NFPA 70E, HAZWOPER 40-Hour, or Confined Space Competent Person certifications preferred.
  • Prior experience on Microsoft, Meta, AWS, Google, or Oracle owner-representative projects preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Deep working knowledge of 29 CFR 1926, 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1904, and ANSI A92/Z359 standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety programs on large, active construction sites with multi-trade workforces.
  • Strong incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management skills.
  • Effective training delivery skills with the ability to communicate safety requirements clearly to diverse field audiences.
  • Proficient in safety management platforms; experience with ISNetworld, Avetta, Procore, Autodesk, HammerTech, or equivalent preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to work on active construction sites in all weather conditions and wear required PPE

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position is field-based and requires work on active construction sites in all weather conditions. The Safety Training Manager will be exposed to conditions typical of large-scale commercial and mission-critical construction, including work at heights, in confined spaces, and in areas with heavy equipment activity. This is a safety-sensitive position.

  • Must be able to navigate and inspect all areas of an active job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Possess good vision and hearing, normal or corrected.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, and task-specific PPE.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, with overtime as required based on project needs.
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
