HART is seeking a Safety Support Specialist to provide administrative and operational support to the Safety and Security Department. In this part-time role, you will maintain accurate records, help track safety concerns and corrective actions, and support inspections and investigations while protecting confidential information.

Your work will combine office responsibilities with visits to agency facilities and operational areas. You will organize accident and incident documentation, obtain and review video as directed, and help department staff follow up on outstanding safety items. The position requires availability for nights, weekends and other non-traditional hours as needed.

• Put your administrative, clerical, safety, security or video-monitoring experience to work supporting safe transit operations.
• Gain exposure to departmental work involving compliance, training, inspections, investigations and emergency preparedness.
• Combine detailed records management with practical support in HART facilities and operational environments.
• Contribute to a safe environment for employees, customers, contractors and visitors in a part-time position.

• Provide administrative and operational support for agency safety, security, compliance, training, inspections and emergency preparedness.
• Maintain accurate databases, logs, files and tracking systems for accidents, incidents, training, inspections, corrective actions, safety concerns and other departmental activities.
• Assist with safety and security investigations as directed by the Safety and Security Manager.
• Process and track accident, incident, injury, hazard and other safety documentation; check that required information is complete and route it for review and follow-up.
• Obtain and review video of events occurring on agency vehicles or at agency facilities, as directed.
• Monitor corrective actions arising from inspections, audits, accident investigations, hazard assessments and other safety and security activities.
• Follow up on outstanding corrective actions and provide status updates to department staff.
• Assist Safety and Security personnel with routine facility and operational inspections; document observations, identify potential hazards and communicate findings for review and corrective action.
• Protect sensitive safety, security, personnel, accident, incident and investigative information in accordance with agency policies and applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the Safety and Security Department.

• Accurate records. You keep databases, logs and supporting documents complete, organized and current.

• Careful observation. You document inspection findings and review video as directed, reporting relevant information accurately.

• A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
• At least two years of administrative, clerical, safety, security, video monitoring or related experience.
• A valid driver license.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, along with data entry, word processing, spreadsheets and other required business software.
• Ability to use computers, copiers, scanners, multi-line telephone systems and related office equipment.
• Ability to gather, organize, format and analyze information using specialized administrative, clerical or operational knowledge.
• Ability to work independently, choose an appropriate approach within established guidelines, follow procedures and exercise sound judgment.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to prepare, review and edit clear, accurate and concise reports.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, meet deadlines and remain effective under pressure and frequent interruptions.
• Ability to interact professionally and positively with employees, customers, vendors and members of the public with diverse personalities and abilities.
• Strict confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately and meet attendance and punctuality requirements.

Work takes place in office, street, community, shop and operational environments. You must be available to work nights, weekends and other non-traditional hours as required.

• Safely walk throughout an active operations campus and onboard fixed-route buses.
• Sit, stand, walk, communicate orally and in writing, listen and use a computer frequently.
• Bend, reach and stoop, and occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Communicate effectively and make the visual observations needed to perform assigned duties safely.
• Work around moderately unpleasant conditions that may include dust, noise, temperature extremes, weather, petroleum products and chemicals when visiting operating facilities.
• Follow applicable policies, procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and use required protective clothing and equipment.
