At Stargate Hydrogen, you will be part of a team pioneering innovative solutions in green hydrogen. As our Safety Specialist, you will play a vital role in fostering a proactive, learning-oriented Safety Culture. You will lead the development and implementation of safety practices that support our daily operations while championing continuous improvement and proactive risk management at all levels of the organisation.

What does the day-to-day look like in this role?
- Developing, implementing, and continuously improving the Safety Management System to support daily operations
- Supporting company projects with safety expertise (e.g., project safety plans, job safety analyses, equipment risk assessments)
- Fostering a proactive, learning-driven safety culture across all teams and levels
- Conducting and maintaining up-to-date risk assessments and safety work plans
- Advising team leads and employees on best practices, ensuring practical and sustainable safety solutions
- Leading the Safety Investigation Program: managing incident investigations, coaching investigators, facilitating learning teams, and ensuring thorough documentation and follow-up
- Developing and leading a safety training programme to strengthen safety culture across the organisation
- Staying up to date with relevant legislation and ensuring compliance within your area of responsibility
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and proactive risk management
- Leading and supporting the team of safety representatives and their activities
- Adapting to a dynamic, fast-paced environment where responsibilities may evolve as the company grows
Must-have qualifications and experiences:
- Proven experience in a Safety Specialist role, preferably in a production or scale-up environment.
- A strong understanding of relevant legislation and safety standards, with the confidence to apply them effectively.
- Excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail
- Strong communication skills in English and Estonian; additional languages are a plus
- Hands-on experience in leading safety programs, including risk management and safety leadership initiatives
- A proactive mindset characterised by a can-do attitude and a drive for improvement.
Nice-to-have qualifications:
- Experience with the safety program VITS.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 and 14001.
- Experience with ATEX and/or HAZOP studies.
- Background in engineering or chemistry.
