Huntsman is seeking a Safety Specialist supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the EHS Manager.

Job Scope

Maintain corporate and regulatory compliance requirements of sites safety and health programs.

As the Safety Specialist you will:

  • Oversee the sites safety and emergency response equipment inspections program, including supervising contract Safety Technician.
  • Maintain sites Job Safety Analysis, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, PPE, Hazard Communication, Radiation (RSO), Lab Hygiene, and OSHA Regulated Chemical Programs.
  • Participate on the Emergency Response Team in various leadership roles.
  • Perform industrial hygiene activities (Risk Assessments, Monitoring, Database Management, and Occ Health Engagement).
  • Provide safety support in Process Safety Management activities (PSSR’s, MOC, and PHA’s).
  • Contribute to the New Product Introduction Process.
  • Facilitate the monthly internal safety audit program on the sites EHS Programs.
  • Author safety and emergency response procedures and policies.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Assist in the development of the annual EHS budget and Capital Expense Budgets.
  • Prepare Chemical Weapons Convention and TSCA Chemical Data reports.
  • Participate in site safety initiatives (ex., BST, Clean Sweeps, and Zero Harm)
  • Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
  • Participates in and completes company-required training programs.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in safety or related technical field with 5+ years of relevant working experience in an EHS role.

    Specific Skills and Knowledge:

    • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft program
    • Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (OSHA, EPA, etc.) preferred
    • Familiar with industry standards and recommended practices (NFPA, ACGIH, ANSI, etc.) preferred
    • Ability to plan, delegate, and organize tasks to consistently produce results, with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to function efficiently in a multi-disciplined, cross-functional environment.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with multiple layers of the organizations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • ASP, CSP, CIH or relevant professional certification valued
