We’re looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented Safety Specialist Intern to join our team and support our mission of creating a safe, compliant, and proactive workplace. In this role, you’ll assist our safety professionals with daily field activities, compliance tasks, and continuous improvement projects that keep our operations running safely and efficiently. This internship offers hands‑on experience, collaborative team exposure, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on workplace well‑being. 

What You Will Do:

In this role, the intern supports routine safety inspections, audits, and walkthroughs across operational areas while helping track, document, and analyze key safety data such as observations, incident reports, and corrective actions. They assist in developing and updating safety procedures, training materials, and communication content, and actively participate in safety meetings while coordinating employee training sessions. The intern contributes to hazard identification, risk assessments, and various improvement initiatives, and provides valuable field support on safety projects, PPE programs, and ergonomic evaluations.

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s or graduate program in occupational safety & health, environmental safety & health, safety management, industrial hygiene, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative technical environment
  • U.S. citizenship
     

A Successful Candidate Brings:

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, or PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting
  • Completion of at least one year of college-level coursework in an occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or related program
     

Pay:

Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $23-$25/hr. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
  

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test and vetting to ensure Centrus Energy can meet the requirements of 10 CFR Parts 810 and 1017 to grant access to export-controlled information and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information, respectively.  Such access is required for the performance of this position.
