Schedule: M-F 8am-4pm
Wage: $52,000 yearly
Required: OSHA 10 and Valid Driver's License
Data Center Safety Marshal:
As a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Marshal, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe work environment for our datacenter technicians and foster a strong safety culture for the Salute team within the facility.
Responsibilities:
Develop Task Hazard Analyses (THAs) for all data center maintenance and operational procedures, identifying potential hazards, risks, and mitigation strategies
Conduct daily Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) checks to ensure technicians are using the appropriate safety gear for their tasks
Prepare and deliver engaging Toolbox Talks covering various safety topics relevant to data center operations, including electrical safety, safe lifting techniques, and emergency procedures
Investigate safety incidents and near misses, thoroughly document the event, and collaborate with the Safety Coordinator to identify root causes. Closely coordinating with the VP of EHS
Implement corrective actions based on the root cause analysis to prevent similar incidents from reoccurring. Closely coordinating with the VP of EHS
Maintain accurate safety documentation, including THAs, incident reports, and training records. This will include the use of the Safety Management System that is currently being built
Assist the VP of EHS with safety tasks as needed, such as data entry and updating safety processes, procedures, and manuals
Promote a culture of safety by actively engaging with Salute staff, being the example of safety, addressing safety concerns, and encouraging safe work practices
Qualifications:
Experience in a safety-related role, preferably within a data center / technical environment
Working knowledge of relevant safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA 70, etc.). salutemissioncritical.com
Strong understanding of data center operations and potential hazards associated with electrical equipment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively train and engage technicians
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong Working knowledge of Sales Force (currently used for EHS incident reporting)
Additional Skills (Preferred):
Completion of relevant safety training programs (e.g., OSHA 30)
Experience with conducting safety inspections and audits
Familiarity with incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis techniques
This role will report any safety incidents, issues, or concerns the Project Manager
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies
Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required
This role will meet regularly with the VP of Global EHS and will attend monthly safety meeting held by the VP of Global EHS the 3rd Thursday of each month. Safety Mashal’s will have regular interactions with the client site safety teams and may be required to implement safety standards required at client sites. Safety guidance and support will be provided by the VP of Global EHS to ensure that the Safety Marshal has the support they need to do their job successfully.
