POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety Manager (P3) assists the Senior Construction EHS Manager in all EHS related matters. Responsible for EHS functions necessary to support Leeward Renewable Energy LLC (LRE) Construction at an assigned jobsite.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide Safety Leadership creating enthusiasm and participation among management and craft workers, resulting in excellent safety performance.
- Work directly with the Site Manager and the management team to develop and implement and maintain an effective site-specific safety program.
- Communicate between LRE and client management regarding safety matters.
- Assist with executing the LRE safety strategy and zero accident culture on assigned project(s).
- Monitoring daily construction activities for compliance with OSHA and LRE rules/policies.
- Implement the project’s LRE program.
- Monitor monthly safety training for completion.
- Review and provide job safety analysis feedback.
- Perform workplace audits and inspections to closure.
- Monitor and provide training to project personnel on Concern Reports and Safety Observations.
- Assist in incident investigations and notifications as needed.
- Input and review incident reports.
- Assist in the execution of the jobsite safety plans.
Required Skills
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and/or Health preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of contractor management experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in wind or solar construction preferred.
- Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification required.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred.
- First Aid and/or CPR certification preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping requirements and excellent medical case management skills required.
- Experience with Safety Incident Management software required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Take ownership of your own and others' health and safety, as well as the safety of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role, by taking personal responsibility for working toward LRE's Zero Injury principles.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels in a construction environment.
- Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to prepare and author reports accurately and with appropriate grammar.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position objects and operate tools or controls.
- The employee regularly is required to remain in a stationary position and move about to access people, machinery, and workspaces.
- The employee is occasionally required to ascend and/or descend ladders and stairs to access work areas.
- The employee must have the physical ability to climb wind turbines, including ascending and descending vertical ladders and working at heights, while utilizing appropriate fall protection and rescue equipment as required.
- The employee must regularly move up to 20 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee is regularly required to travel (as a vehicle driver and passenger on various modes of transportation) and frequently perform work at construction sites.
- Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Employee regularly views computer monitors and other electronic devices.
- The employee must be able to effectively communicate while on job sites and throughout the completion of duties.
- The working conditions of this position require the employee to work both indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, humid, and dry conditions.
- Frequently required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain safety and prevent exposure to hazards.
- The environment in which this position functions may involve prolonged exposure to loud noise and various scents and fragrances.
- Will be required to work overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as project needs warrant.
