Summary: 

As a Safety Engineer at Micron, you will gain exposure to the development and implementation elements of our overall safety and/or environmental management systems. As a Safety Engineer at Micron, you will participate in a variety of EHS-related activities evaluation of trends, root cause analysis, the development/implementation of basic safety/ergonomics/EHS/environmental programs, safety committee meetings, compliance activities, and corporate responsibility activities. The Safety Engineer will be responsible to complete assigned activities, collaborate with corporate and site EHS team members as needed.

The Safety Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continually improving Micron’s safety programs and procedures to ensure personnel and facility safety. This individual is responsible for monitoring changes to the Micron ISO Management System and applicable regulatory requirements, implement changes as required, benchmark industry practices, and conduct detailed task and process hazard analysis and risk assessments. 

 
 
The Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with government health and safety laws. Conducts employee training in emergency response, life safety, industrial hygiene, and chemical and fire hazards. Conducts safety surveys and recommends corrective action where occupational hazards exist. Responds to emergencies and investigates accidents and recommends corrective action. Completes required federal, state and local government reports relating to safety. 

 
Responsibilities and Tasks 

Incident Prevention and Investigation 
• Ensures Micron’s safety programs and procedures are effective, efficient, and conform to the Management System and regulatory requirements. 
• Develops and implements functional, cost-effective solutions for safety issues. 
• Coordinates, manages, and conducts safety walkthroughs, inspections, and audits to ensure operations comply with Micron safety procedures and regulatory requirements. 
• Performs incident and event follow-up and investigation, determining direct and indirect causes, making specific recommendations to prevent recurrence, and confirming effectiveness. 

Analytics 
• Supports the MTV ISO System by participating in internal audits to continuously improve our safety programs and procedures. 
• Collects, evaluates, and communicates safety-related metrics and performance measurements. 
Operations Support 
• Provides emergency support to Micron Operations at MTV in the role as the on-call Safety Engineer. 
• Provides customer support and technical expertise for various safety issues and safety regulations. 

Training 
• Responsible for identifying, developing, and providing safety training in accordance with Company and Department goals and objectives. 

Cost Reduction 
• As a Team Member at Micron, you are responsible for reducing costs associated with your area. This responsibility may include owning and completing cost reduction projects, identifying cost effective sustaining/manufacturing improvements, minimizing regular expenditures, and helping to promote a cost-conscious culture.
