Responsibilities and requirements:
- Implementing Safety Protocols: Establishing safety measures specific to the car park environment.
- Conducting Risk Assessments: Regularly evaluating the car park to identify potential hazards. This could involve assessing risks related to vehicle traffic, pedestrian flow, lighting, signage, and physical obstructions.
- Training Staff: Providing training and guidance to car park staff regarding safety practices, emergency procedures, and the use of safety equipment. This ensures that all employees are aware of and can effectively contribute to maintaining a safe environment.
- Ensuring Compliance with regulations: Staying up-to-date with local, state, and federal safety regulations and ensuring that the car park complies with these standards.
- Accident Investigation and Reporting: In the event of an accident or incident, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for investigating, documenting, and reporting these events. This also involves analyzing incidents to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Liaising with External Agencies: Working with external bodies such as local emergency services, insurance companies, and regulatory agencies as needed. This might involve coordinating drills or compliance audits.
- Communication: Keeping all stakeholders, including management and staff, informed about safety-related matters and updates. This could involve preparing and distributing safety bulletins or conducting regular safety meetings.
