JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Coordinator develops, implements, and manages workplace safety programs to prevent injuries, promote employee well-being, and support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local health and safety requirements. This role advises leadership on safety matters, evaluates workplace risks, and uses independent judgment to recommend and implement improvements.
The Safety Coordinator also supports the Facility Manager (as and when needed and asked for) with maintenance coordination, facility inspections, and emergency preparedness to help maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, implement, and evaluate safety policies, procedures, and programs aligned with organizational risk management goals.

Advise departments on safe work practices and emergency response procedures.

Collaborate with leadership to establish safety goals, track performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Analyze injury trends, incident reports, and safety data to recommend and implement preventive measures.

Coordinate safety training and conduct safety orientation for new hires and current employees.

Monitor compliance with applicable health and safety requirements, including OSHA standards and company policies.

Promptly report safety concerns to leadership and supervisors and coordinate appropriate follow-up.

Investigate workplace incidents, prepare reports, and track corrective actions.

Maintain safety data sheets (SDS) in the company’s electronic system and ensure employees can access them.

Respond to on-site injuries and medical emergencies within the scope of current first aid, CPR, and AED training and established emergency procedures.

Maintain current first aid, CPR, and AED certifications and related certification records.

Provide guidance on safety systems, incident reporting tools, and safety documentation.

Conduct routine facility inspections to identify hazards and compliance gaps.

Assist the Facility Manager with vendor scheduling, coordination, and oversight for services such as HVAC, janitorial work, waste management, and utilities.

Assist with facility compliance with applicable building codes, environmental requirements, and internal standards.

Partner with the Facility Manager on emergency preparedness, including evacuation readiness and building systems.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree or certification in a field related to workplace safety, risk management, or safety compliance.

At least two years of related experience in workplace safety, risk management, or safety compliance.

Current first aid, CPR, and AED certifications required.

Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and applicable state and local safety requirements.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Experience with incident reporting systems and safety management software preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to move and handle equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to travel occasionally as required.

When driving on company business, maintain a valid driver’s license. Employees using a personal vehicle for company business must maintain automobile insurance coverage.
