OVERVIEW

BMWC, a leading industrial construction company, is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our team and support the successful delivery of large-scale industrial construction projects.

In this role, you’ll be part of a high-performing safety team and report to an experienced industry leader. You’ll regularly collaborate with company leadership, project teams, field employees, and third-party partners to help promote a safe and compliant work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Safety Coordinator you will:

  • Serve as the primary safety contact for new hires and coordinate required onboarding activities, documentation, and training.
  • Process and maintain new-hire safety records, certifications, and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety orientations, training sessions, and refresher courses in accordance with company and project requirements.
  • Schedule required medical screenings, fit testing, and other occupational health appointments.
  • Prepare, submit, and track safety-related permits required for project work.
  • Assist with the development and completion of site-specific safety plans, incident prevention plans, and related documentation.
  • Partner with project teams, field leadership, and internal departments to support site safety needs and regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to questions from employees, vendors, clients, and project partners regarding safety requirements, documentation, and processes.
  • Maintain accurate and organized safety files, training records, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Manage inventory levels for safety supplies, personal protective equipment, and training materials, and coordinate purchasing as needed.
  • Ensure safety supplies, equipment, and training materials are properly maintained, organized, and readily available.
  • Support incident reporting, documentation, and follow-up activities as requested.
  • Assist with safety audits, inspections, reporting, and other administrative activities that support the company’s safety program.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience as a Safety Coordinator, Safety Administrator, or in a similar role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the technical aptitude to learn internal systems and software
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a service-oriented approach
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision while contributing effectively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence presenting information to groups
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
