The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting and promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. This role assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.


Key Responsibilities


Safety Program Administration

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS TI OP’s and TES’s.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work practices.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain safety records, reports, permits, and documentation.

Training & Employee Engagement

  • Coordinate and deliver safety orientation and ongoing GA and Authorized training programs.
  • Promote employee awareness and participation in safety initiatives.
  • Support safety committees and facilitate safety meetings.
  • Develop safety communications, signage, and educational materials.

Incident Investigation & Reporting

  • Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, and environmental events.
  • Identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track corrective action completion and verify effectiveness.
  • Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records.

Environmental Compliance

  • Assist with environmental programs including waste management, recycling, air emissions, stormwater, and hazardous materials management.
  • Coordinate environmental inspections and audits.
  • Support permit compliance and environmental reporting requirements.

 

Risk Assessment & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in risk assessments, job hazard evaluations and ergonomic evaluations.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective measures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risks and improve safety performance.
  • Monitor safety metrics and prepare reports for management review.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and preparedness activities with First Responders
  • Support first aid, fire protection, and emergency response programs.

Preferred Qualifications

 

REQUIREMENTS:


Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety programs, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Excellent communication and training abilities.
  • Ability to conduct inspections, investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar credentials are a plus.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
