We are hiring a Safety Coordinator! This role supports day-to-day safety activities across commercial HVAC. Working closely with the Safety Manager and operational leaders, this role visits jobsites, helps identify common hazards, supports employee training, maintains safety records, and follows up on corrective actions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Visits jobsites, shops, warehouses, and company locations to observe work practices and complete routine safety inspections.
  • Identifies common hazards or unsafe behaviors, communicates concerns respectfully, and notifies the Safety Manager or site leadership when immediate action is needed.
  • Helps employees follow company safety policies, customer requirements, jobsite rules, and basic OSHA expectations.
  • Assists with new-hire safety orientation, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and refresher training.
  • Supports supervisors with job hazard analyses, pre-task planning, and site-specific safety documentation.
  • Promotes the correct use and care of personal protective equipment and reinforces safe work practices.
  • Helps gather information following injuries, near misses, vehicle accidents, or property damage and assists with documenting next steps.
  • Tracks corrective actions and follows up with responsible leaders to help ensure safety items are completed on time.
  • Maintains organized and accurate records for training, certifications, inspections, incidents, and other safety activities.
  • Supports hazard communication, Safety Data Sheet records, emergency preparedness, and other assigned safety projects.
  • Builds positive relationships with field employees and encourages employees to report hazards and near misses.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; related college coursework or a degree is preferred
  • One to three years of experience in safety, construction, mechanical trades, industrial work, field operations, or a related environment preferred
  • Basic understanding of workplace and jobsite safety practices, with a willingness to learn company, customer, and OSHA requirements
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred, or willingness to obtain required training within the company-established timeframe
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred, or willingness to obtain it
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and ability to travel regularly between jobsites and company locations
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office and electronic systems for documentation, training, and reporting
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with field employees, supervisors, customers, and leadership

  • Delivering toolbox talks, new-hire orientations, or other employee training
  • Supporting incident documentation and corrective-action follow-up
  • Safety, training, inspection, or electronic reporting systems
  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication in a field environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs or ladders, and navigate jobsites, rooftops, mechanical rooms, warehouses, and fabrication shops
  • Ability to lift and carry safety equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work around heat, cold, noise, dust, moving equipment, and active construction conditions
  • Ability to drive between work locations; occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or emergency response may be required

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in occupational safety, construction management, or related field
  • 2+ years of safety, construction, mechanical, industrial, or field operations experience
  • Experience in commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical service, fabrication, or construction operations
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction and general industry requirements (29 CFR 1910 and 1926) and common jobsite safety practices
  • OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within company-established timeframe
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to travel regularly between worksites
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check for access to federal customers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, electronic documentation, and safety or learning management systems
  • Jobsite hazard identification, safety inspections, and practical corrective-action recommendations
  • Incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action follow-through
  • Safety training, group facilitation, and clear communication of expectations
  • Accurate recordkeeping, documentation, and management of compliance deadlines
  • Professional coaching, conflict resolution, and ability to address unsafe behavior
  • Knowledge and application of fall protection, lockout/tagout, confined spaces, hot work, respiratory protection, excavation, and electrical safety
  • Experience with job hazard analyses, activity hazard analyses, pre-task plans, and site-specific safety plans
  • Familiarity with OSHA 500 and/or 510 trainer qualifications
  • Familiarity with Federal EM385-1-1 safety requirements
  • Experience with safety management software, training platforms, inspection applications, and electronic incident reporting
  • Recognized safety credentials such as CHST or ASP and bilingual English/Spanish communication in a field environment
  • Strong professional communication skills and ability to work with field employees, supervisors, customers, and leadership
