This temporary position is with NC DNCR – HR & Safety, located at 109 East Jones Street, Raleigh NC, Wake County 27601. 

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $34 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). 

Details of the Position:
The NC Dept of Natural & Cultural Resources – HR and Safety division is seeking a proficient candidate to:
* Assist in the development of safety programs
* Provide technical knowledge of safety subjects
* Assist in investigating incidents
* Assist in providing safety training
* and other safety related duties and needed

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants. 


* Thorough knowledge of application requirements of a variety of safety topics, such as powered industrial trucks, permit required confined spaces, aerial lifts and respiratory protection

* Ability to assess a technical safety program for gaps in compliance and specific custom needs

* Ability to develop a technical safety program which includes writing a policy for, to develop/provide training and to evaluate the program performance

* Ability to work independently and travel, some of which is overnight

* Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with ability to establish professional working relationships with agency and outside personnel


Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with a major in safety engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management or technology, occupational safety, or one of the physical sciences or an equivalent technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of three years of progressive occupational and safety and health experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills Required
