Job Description
Safety Case Assessor, Cumbria
Project Description The project undertakes Safety Case reviews and provides Safety Case services in support of various facilities across this large-scale infrastructure project. This includes Safety Case assessment production, Safety Case review, strategies and LTPRs.
Role Description This role is to support and carry out reviews of Safety Cases and develop new Safety Case assessments. It will also provide support to Safety Case activities in conjunction with relevant plants Safety Case Manager, including LTPR support.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Proactively lead engagement with Plant personnel to:
1. Plan for and undertake Safety Case Assessments e.g. HAZANs and OSMs
2. Develop and collate coherent and concise ALARP Justifications
3. SQEP HAZOP chair with applicable demonstrable experience.
4. Provide Safety Case experience and knowledge to the reviews undertaken.
5. Ability to drive Safety Case documentation through its approval processes.
6. Determine the impact of any required changes to the current Safety Case
7. Provide support and input to the overall team to promote and improve the overall team capability.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Personality: Self-motivated individual able to work under guidance and from their own initiative. Reliable, tolerant, and determined, an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Able to get on with others and be a team-player. A questioning and investigative attitude is desirable.
Ability to work as an integral part of a team and from own initiative to achieve results. Possess the ability to justify/explain progress made, and actions implemented.
Specific Job Skills: Detailed knowledge of Safety Cases and experience in undertaking Safety Case assessments. Detailed understanding of the principles of Safety Cases, Nuclear and General Engineering. Ability to demonstrate SQEP SC knowledge to S&RM and/or value stream leads.
Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Literacy: Must be a competent writer of technically based reports/presentations and safety assessments/reviews.
Communication Skills: Must be a good communicator using face-to-face discussion, telephone and email. The ability to listen is essential. Ability to interact remotely using various technologies is a required skill with the current remote working arrangements. Ability to present arguments and justification is a concise and coherent manner is essential.
