Position Context
- The Safety CAE Lead Engineer is responsible for leading virtual vehicle safety development activities and ensuring vehicle passive safety targets are achieved through simulation-driven engineering.
- The role serves as the technical focal point for crashworthiness and occupant protection CAE analysis from concept development through production release.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead Safety CAE activities for complete vehicle and subsystem development.
- Define and execute simulation plans aligned with vehicle safety targets and program milestones.
- Perform and guide:
- Frontal Crash Analysis
- Side Impact Analysis
- Rear Impact Analysis
- Roof Crush Analysis
- Pedestrian Protection Analysis
- Occupant Protection and Restraint System Simulations
- Develop, maintain, and correlate full vehicle finite element (FE) crash models with physical test data.
- Conduct root cause analysis of safety performance issues and recommend design improvements.
- Support vehicle architecture development to ensure safety requirements are incorporated from the concept phase.
- Work closely with Body Engineering, Chassis, Interior, Restraints, Battery, and Vehicle Integration teams to achieve safety targets.
- Support physical crash test preparation, analysis, and correlation activities.
- Review supplier CAE deliverables and provide technical guidance.
- Mentor junior engineers and drive CAE process improvements and best practices.
- Support vehicle benchmarking and competitive safety assessments.
Requirements
Education / Professional Knowledge
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive CAE with strong crash worthiness and vehicle safety development exposure.
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of vehicle safety regulations, NCAP requirements, and passive safety engineering principles.
- Experience with automotive CAE tools such as LS-DYNA, Hyper Mesh, ANSA, Abaqus, Primer, Animator, META, or equivalent.
- Expertise in crashworthiness analysis, occupant protection, restraint systems, structural energy management, and safety target development.
- Experience correlating simulation results with physical crash test data.
- Good understanding of EV-specific safety challenges, including battery protection and high-voltage system safety.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Experience working with global engineering teams and suppliers.
- Effective leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs and deliver under challenging timelines.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
