Summary: The Safety & Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety, compliance, and risk mitigation programs across EEXB transportation and warehouse operations. This role oversees regulatory compliance, driver safety programs, warehouse safety standards, and operational risk management across fleet, yard, and warehouse environments.

The position supports the safe and efficient operation of EEXB logistics services, including over‑the‑road transportation, trailer pools, yard operations, and warehouse material handling activities. This leader partners with transportation, warehouse operations, engineering & analytics, customer success, and executive leadership to improve safety performance, reduce risk exposure, and support scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Safety & Transportation Compliance
    • Oversee all fleet safety, maintenance compliance, and regulatory programs for EEXB trucks and trailers.
    • Coordinate equipment repair requests from report through vendor repair and invoice reconciliation.
    • Maintain relationships with repair vendors and service providers.
    • Manage driver qualification files, vehicle records, and regulatory documentation.
    • Monitor CSA scores, ISS ratings, and DOT compliance metrics.
    • Review MVR, PSP, and Clearinghouse reports to ensure driver compliance.
    • Utilize Samsara ELD and telematics data to analyze driver safety performance and operational trends.
    • Conduct root cause analysis for transportation incidents and implement corrective actions.
    • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules for tractors and trailers.
    • Track fleet repair costs and maintenance trends.
    • Manage compliance related to Dangerous Goods / Hazmat transportation.
    • Oversee safety standards for yard operations including trailer movements and dock traffic.
    • Develop safety protocols for trailer spotting, storage, and trailer pool management.
    • Coordinate safe interaction between yard hostlers, dock operations, and over‑the‑road drivers.
    • Conduct yard safety inspections and audits.
    • Support safety planning for trailer pool expansions and container storage programs.
  • Warehouse Safety & Operational Compliance
    • Oversee warehouse safety programs including MHE operations and facility compliance.
    • Develop safety standards for forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, dock equipment, and warehouse infrastructure.
    • Conduct warehouse safety audits and inspections to ensure OSHA compliance.
    • Partner with warehouse leadership to improve safe material handling practices.
    • Investigate warehouse incidents and implement corrective safety improvements.
    • Support safety oversight during warehouse launches, expansions, or operational transitions.
    • Assist in evaluating warehouse layouts and traffic flow to reduce operational risk.
  • Insurance & Claims Management
    • Coordinate transportation and warehouse incident claims including cargo damage and vehicle accidents.
    • Manage claims lifecycle including documentation, investigation, and insurance carrier coordination.
    • Maintain incident records including photos, statements, and operational reports.
    • Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
    • Track claims trends and loss ratios to identify improvement opportunities.
    • Support annual insurance renewal processes by providing safety records and claims history.
  • Customer Compliance & Contractual Requirements
    • Ensure compliance with customer-specific operational and safety requirements.
    • Prepare for and support customer safety audits and compliance reviews.
    • Align EEXB operational practices with customer SOPs and service standards.
    • Implement training aligned with customer-required safety procedures.
    • Monitor reporting requirements including operational KPIs and safety metrics.

 

  • Safety KPI Ownership & Executive Reporting
    • Develop and maintain safety performance metrics across transportation and warehouse operations.
    • Track accident frequency, driver safety scores, warehouse incident rates, and claims performance.
    • Analyze data from Samsara, Ditat, and internal reporting tools.
    • Provide weekly and monthly safety performance reports to leadership.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or warehouse operations with at least 2 years in safety or compliance leadership.
  • Experience with ELD/telematics systems (Samsara preferred) and transportation management systems such as Ditat.
  • A Enjoys both working independently and within a team environment.
  • Great communicator and listener.
  • Ability to truly multitask and meet many customer specific demands.
  • Problem solving skills, seeks to help streamline and standardize processes.
  • Strong self-starter
  • Opportunistic as it relates to helping other team members and receptive to training.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, IF Statements, V-Lookup, Conditional Formatting)

Skills Required

  • 4+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or warehouse operations
  • At least 2 years of experience in safety or compliance leadership
  • Experience with ELD and telematics systems
  • Experience with transportation management systems such as Ditat
  • Experience with Samsara
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
