About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Safety Advisor to join our well-established Health, Safety Environment division. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based out of our Mackay, QLD office.
Reporting to the Safety Manager the primary responsibility of this role will be to coordinate all aspects of Health, Safety, Sustainability & Risk Management for Hastings Deering employees working within our operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
This role will involve the following key duties and responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and assistance to foster a safe and healthy work environment
- Evaluate and inspect workplace environments, and practices to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- Assist in pre-shift planning, scheduling and inspections to maintain operational safety
- Contribute to and implement our safety management system, aligning with company and legislative requirements
- Facilitate Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) investigations and coordinate accident/incident reporting and corrective actions
- Coordinate Workplace Rehabilitation Program for injured employees to ensure optimal recovery and minimised premiums
- Conduct inductions and training, ensuring compliance with site and Company requirements

Essential requirements
The successful applicant will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and attributes:
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
- Workplace rehabilitation Coordinator qualifications
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Experience in incident investigation and reporting experience
- Australian Full Work Rights
