Repsol is seeking a Safety & Environment Coordinator to join the Field Safety team supporting the field operations for our Marcellus Assets. This position will be based onsite from Horseheads, New York, reporting to the Sr. S&E Field Safety Supervisor.
Position Summary:
The Safety & Environment (S&E) Coordinator supports the implementation and continuous improvement of Repsol’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs. This role ensures compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and project-specific SEMS, while promoting a strong safety culture across operations.The primary function of the S&E coordinator is to ensure that safety and environmental protection policies, standards, and procedures are available on-site and known and understood by operational personnel, collaborating in their implementation and verifying on-site compliance.Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to Repsol’s HSE Corporate Standards.
  • Facilitate Major Accident Hazard (MAH) Bow-Tie and Operational HAZID programs; support Management of Change (MoC) processes.
  • Analyze and track HSE hazards during Pre-Start Safety Reviews, Mechanical Integrity inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Serve as Alternate Safety Officer on the Incident Management Team.
  • Assist with Contractor HSE Bridging Document implementation.
  • Monitor HSE performance and recommend improvements.
  • Provide weekly and monthly HSE reports.
  • Lead contractor engagement to promote a unified “one team” HSE approach.
  • Ensure contractor incident reporting and HSE indicator tracking.
  • Verify Safety and Environmental Critical Elements (SECE) are in place before operations.
  • Support compliance with E&P Environmental Performance Practices.
  • Monitor contractor HSE supervision and ensure proper safety controls (e.g., JSAs, PTW).
  • Advise on HSE standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical HSE guidance to managers and supervisors.
  • Support accident/incident investigations and follow-up.
  • Assist in developing and implementing HSE plans, emergency procedures, and documentation.
  • Conduct HSE evaluations and contractor follow-ups.
  • Support preparation of HAZIDs and Bow-Tie risk assessments.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Must be fully authorized for employment in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship now or in the future. Additionally, we are not authorized for employment under OPT/CPT/F1 visa programs.
  • Local residency with the availability to report to the field and/or office following a standard 40 hr M-F schedule.
  • High School degree or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in HSE related disciplines is optional but not required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • 5+ years of HSE experience in oil & gas or industrial environments.
  • Preference for candidates with professional certifications related to S&E (e.g., CSP, MSP, ASP, CSD, OSHT, CHST, COSS).
  • Experience with SEMS, Bow-Tie analysis, and HAZID facilitation.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with contractor HSE management and bridging documentation.

Location & Schedule

  • Exempt, full time salaried, based onsite out of our office in Horseheads, New York, commuting to the field (NY/PA) as necessary. Local candidates residing within ~1 hr. commute are preferred and encouraged to apply. Position does not include relocation.
  • Position will follow a standard typical M-F 40 hr. schedule during the initial training period; may be adjusted after this period depending on business needs and manager's assessment of individual development in the role.

Salary:

  • The salary range for this position, based on meeting the minimum education and experience required for consideration, is $86,000–$96,000 annually.
  • This range reflects base salary only and does not include additional compensation such as bonuses, incentives, or benefits.
  • Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s education, experience, technical competencies, and internal equity, in relation to the minimum qualifications and responsibilities of the role.
