Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Rust Developer to design, build, and optimize high-performance distributed systems, low-latency backend services, and cloud-native infrastructure components powering mission-critical enterprise platforms. This role focuses on developing highly concurrent, memory-safe applications using Rust while integrating with modern cloud environments, container orchestration platforms, and event-driven architectures.
You will work closely with platform engineers, distributed systems architects, DevOps teams, and product engineering groups to build scalable APIs, asynchronous processing pipelines, networking services, and infrastructure automation tools. The ideal candidate has strong systems programming expertise, deep knowledge of concurrent application development, and experience building production software where performance, reliability, and security are critical.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-performance backend services using Rust for large-scale distributed systems.
  • Build low-latency APIs, asynchronous processing services, and event-driven microservices.
  • Develop networking applications utilizing TCP, UDP, HTTP/2, gRPC, WebSockets, and QUIC protocols.
  • Build highly concurrent applications using Rust's async ecosystem including Tokio and async/await.
  • Design resilient services capable of processing millions of transactions with high availability and fault tolerance.
  • Optimize CPU utilization, memory management, thread scheduling, and application performance.
  • Integrate services with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis Streams, or other enterprise messaging platforms.
  • Develop secure APIs and authentication services supporting OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and mTLS.
  • Build observability capabilities including structured logging, distributed tracing, and performance monitoring.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, system design discussions, and production support.
  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers to automate deployments using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Investigate complex production issues involving networking, concurrency, memory utilization, and distributed systems.

Required Skills
  • Six or more years of professional software engineering experience building enterprise applications.
  • Three or more years of hands-on Rust development experience in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Rust programming language, ownership model, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, generics, and macros.
  • Extensive experience with asynchronous Rust development using Tokio, async/await, Futures, and Actix or Axum.
  • Strong understanding of concurrent programming, multithreading, synchronization primitives, and lock-free programming concepts.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs, gRPC services, and high-performance backend applications.
  • Strong understanding of operating system fundamentals including memory management, process scheduling, file systems, and networking.
  • Experience working with Linux production environments and command-line tooling.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases such as Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
  • Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience integrating distributed messaging systems including Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or Pulsar.
  • Strong debugging, profiling, benchmarking, and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building distributed systems supporting high-throughput financial, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or telecommunications platforms.
  • Familiarity with Rust web frameworks including Axum, Warp, Rocket, or Actix Web.
  • Experience developing Kubernetes Operators or cloud-native infrastructure tooling.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and distributed tracing platforms.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic libraries, TLS, secure communications, and certificate management.
  • Experience building command-line tools and systems utilities using Rust.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ interoperability through Foreign Function Interface (FFI).
  • Contributions to open-source Rust projects or participation in the Rust community are highly desirable.

Project Environment
You will be joining a platform engineering team responsible for building next-generation distributed infrastructure supporting enterprise-scale applications across cloud environments. Current initiatives include:
  • High-performance API gateway and service mesh components
  • Real-time event streaming and data processing pipelines
  • Distributed job scheduling and workflow orchestration services
  • Cloud-native platform services deployed on Kubernetes
  • Secure authentication and identity management infrastructure
  • Infrastructure automation and systems observability platforms
  • High-availability backend services processing millions of requests daily
  • Enterprise monitoring, telemetry, and reliability engineering solutions

This is a highly technical engineering role where you will contribute to architecture, implementation, performance optimization, deployment, and operational excellence for large-scale production systems.
