Rural Engagement Coordinator
Overview:
The Rural Engagement Coordinator leads and supports volunteer efforts focused on rural areas where political minorities often feel isolated or unheard. This role is key to building strong, connected volunteer networks and fostering trust and empowerment among underrepresented voters.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruit, onboard, and manage volunteers who are passionate about rural outreach and community engagement.
Coordinate volunteer activities, including voter outreach, community events, phone/text banks, canvassing efforts, and support initiatives.
Build relationships with rural residents and ensure their perspectives are acknowledged and valued within the organization’s strategy.
Develop training and support materials tailored to the unique challenges faced by rural and politically underrepresented communities.
Foster a sense of community and belonging among volunteers and voters by creating inclusive and supportive spaces for dialogue and action.
Track volunteer engagement and feedback and provide regular updates to staff leadership on program successes and challenges.
Collaborate with outreach and communications teams to ensure messaging is culturally sensitive and relevant to rural audiences.

Lived or professional experience with rural communities or marginalized political identities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to lead with empathy.
Experience managing volunteers or working in community-focused roles.
Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and adapt in dynamic environments.
Familiarity with political outreach tools (e.g., VAN) is a plus, but not required.
