Overview
We are looking for a hands-on RPA & Automation Specialist to join Automation team. This is a delivery role for someone who has automated processes end to end across the full RPA lifecycle and has complete, practical command of RPA documentation. You will assess incoming processes, run feasibility analysis, and identify the best way to automate each one - through RPA, AI, or another technology - and then get it delivered, either by building the solution yourself or by driving the work with the relevant teams. The emphasis is on genuine automation expertise: designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting automations that are robust, well-documented, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support RPA solutions across the full automation lifecycle, delivering robust bots that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Produce and maintain complete RPA documentation to standard - Process Definition Documents (PDDs), Solution Design Documents (SDDs), test scripts, and operational/support handover artefacts.
- Run feasibility analysis on candidate processes, assessing automation potential, complexity, risk, and ROI, and recommend the best-fit approach across RPA, AI, or other technologies.
- Identify and prioritise automation opportunities proactively, building a pipeline of candidate processes and business cases.
- Drive each opportunity through to completion - either by building the solution independently or by coordinating and directing the relevant delivery, product, and technology teams.
- Build and integrate automations with underlying systems using APIs, databases, queues, and orchestration tooling, applying reusable components and automation best practice.
- Apply strong exception handling, logging, security, and control standards so automations run reliably in production and are safe to operate and maintain.
- Monitor deployed automations, analyse operational data and run metrics, and recommend refinements to improve stability, throughput, and business value.
- Support hypercare, incident resolution, and continuous improvement of the automation estate, including change management and version control.
- Contribute to a centralised knowledge base and reusable asset library, capturing automation expertise so it is accessible and repeatable across the team.
- Advise on tooling and technology selection, implementation strategy, and change management for automation and wider transformation initiatives.
- Partner with subject matter experts and process owners to map current-state processes and design optimised, automation-ready target states.
Skills & Experience
- 6+ years' hands-on experience delivering RPA and automation solutions as an RPA Developer, Automation Engineer, or equivalent, ideally in a technology, SaaS, or automotive-related environment.
- Proven, end-to-end experience automating processes across the full RPA lifecycle - design, development, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
- Complete, practical knowledge of RPA documentation requirements (PDDs, SDDs, test scripts, operational handover) and the discipline to keep documentation accurate and current.
- Hands-on expertise with at least one enterprise RPA platform (e.g. UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Power Automate) including bot design, reusable components, orchestration, and exception handling.
- Demonstrated ability to run feasibility analysis and identify automation opportunities, selecting the right approach across RPA, AI, and other technologies.
- Track record of taking automation opportunities through to completion - both by building solutions independently and by driving delivery with other teams.
- Practical experience applying AI or intelligent automation (e.g. document understanding/OCR, GenAI, ML models) alongside RPA to extend what can be automated.
- Strong scripting/integration skills and comfort working with APIs, databases, and workflow orchestration.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, able to assess complex, multi-system workflows, identify root causes, and balance efficiency, scalability, and user experience.
- RPA platform certification (e.g. UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, or Power Automate).
- Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to streamline processes before automating them.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Visio, or Lucidchart, and with Agile/Scrum delivery.
- Familiarity with cloud automation services and CI/CD for bot deployment.
