Job Description:

Position Purpose

As a Rotating Equipment Routine Planner, you will be responsible for planning corrective maintenance work orders by priority. You will provide quality maintenance job plans including site preparation, parts requirements, vender contacts, support equipment requirements and resources with the appropriate task sequencing necessary to allow for the efficient scheduling and execution of maintenance work. You will create the plan for Schedulers to schedule and maintenance execution to follow.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide guidance for efficient and effective execution of the required scope by identifying a logical sequence of job tasks

  • Risk (safety, environment, and costs) are identified and mitigated to ALARP (As Low as Reasonably Practicable)

  • Identify task description, required resources, materials, services, tools, duration, and cost estimate of each task and provides guidance for efficient and effective scheduling and execution

  • Materials and services are identified and/or requested in planning to minimize impact of cost as well as delivery times on the schedule

  • Consistent with the established site standards and in line with QA/QC and permit to work expectations. Personal and process safety factors are included when determining method(s) of execution

  • Identify and communicate when Management of Change (MOCs) are required for the execution of work. Plan approved MOC’s through corrective work orders

  • Manage planning backlog in accordance with the site standards. Such as dates for work orders in planning queue, start/completion dates, and requesting deviation/deferral requests as required

  • Perform job site visits to confirm existing field conditions and engagement with Maintenance Team Leads, Craft Team Members, and Production Team Members

  • Discuss all complex, for example, multi-trade, high effort, high value, and safety critical corrective maintenance work, with the maintenance and production team to improve the quality of the work pack

  • Compile necessary documents (e-package) needed for field execution - reference documents such as equipment manuals, drawings, procedures, as per planning practice

  • Make initial contact with vendors for onsite services to provide scope of work and tentative start dates

  • Evaluate feedback from execution regarding level of detail, accuracy of plans, actual hours to complete tasks to reduce labor cost

  • Incorporate improvements from work order feedback coming from the frontline, such as updating task lists, BOMs, materials data, etc.

  • Planner will set basic start dates of corrective work orders based on parts & services availability 

  • May be required to fill a reserve worker role

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer

  • Journeyman Millwright or Mechanical Engineer, with minimum 5 years maintenance experience in an industrial upgrader, oil refinery, petrochemical plant or similar facility

  • Experienced with Computerized Materials Management Systems (GSAP/Blueprint) would be considered an asset

  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Self-driven, manage evolving priorities and deliver on multiple commitments in a timely manner

  • Strong interpersonal skills and stake holder management

  • Experience interfacing with repair shops (Pumps, Compressors, Turbines)

  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude and understanding of Mechanical Rotating equipment

  • Previous Field experience Repairing Pumps, Turbines, Compressors would be considered an asset

  • Must be able to Climb ladders, stairs to multi-level structures

  • Understanding of Positive displacement, centrifugal pumps and compressors would be considered an asset
