Position Summary

The Rooms Controller plays an essential role in supporting the daily operations of The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa, with a strong focus on delivering elevated guest experiences that reflect a commitment to renewal, comfort, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage room inventory and assignments with accuracy to ensure all guest arrivals are thoughtfully prepared
  • Coordinate closely with Reservations, Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Engineering to align room readiness with arrival timelines
  • Assign rooms based on guest preferences, VIP status, loyalty recognition (e.g., Marriott Bonvoy), and special requests
  • Proactively manage early arrivals, late departures, upgrades, and personalized guest experiences
  • Continuously monitor room availability throughout the day to maintain optimal flow and operational efficiency
  • Conduct thorough pre‑arrival planning by reviewing occupancy forecasts, group blocks, and upcoming arrivals
  • Serve as a central communication point across departments to resolve room-related issues quickly and effectively
  • Address maintenance needs, overbooking scenarios, and last‑minute changes with calm, guest‑first problem solving
Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Prior hotel experience in Front Office, Rooms Control, or Reservations required; resort or full-service hotel experience strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of hotel operations, room inventory management, and guest flow coordination

  • Familiarity with Marriott Bonvoy or comparable loyalty programs preferred

  • Proven ability to deliver attentive, guest-centric service with a focus on anticipation and personalization

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across all hotel departments

  • Proficiency with property management systems (PMS) and general hotel systems

  • Ability to problem-solve quickly, calmly, and effectively under pressure

  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business levels require

  • A professional, composed demeanor with a commitment to delivering elevated guest experiences aligned with a wellness-focused hospitality environment
