Job Summary:
The ROCC Manager will be responsible for 24x7 monitoring and controlling Repsol’s renewable generation assets across the US. This role will function from the remote-operations control center (ROCC) based in downtown Houston, TX. The ROCC Manager shall oversee safe and reliable operations while coordinating with internal and external entities such as field operations teams and maintenance contractors. The ROCC Manager shall also hire, train and support personnel who will facilitate the daily operations of the ROCC. Finally, the ROCC Manager shall be responsible for creating standard operating procedures and collaborating with other departments leads to optimizing operability.
The position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
Key Responsibilities:
Management:
- Recruit, train and mentor ROCC operators
- Create and manage shift schedule for the team to ensure 24/7 coverage of generation assets in accordance with operational protocols
- Define and implement operational protocols in collaboration with field operations, asset management and IT/OT teams.
- Define ROCC KPIs and ensure traceability to business-level objectives
- Review the ROCC SCADA tools such as one-lines, alarming, notifications etc.
- Advise on the integration of the ROCC with business process applications
Operability:
- Monitoring and control of generation assets to ensure safety, operability and gird reliability in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Incident categorization, initial troubleshooting and escalation of issues (alarms, faults, abnormal operations) using our enterprise SCADA and CMMS applications.
- Fault/alarm resolution either by remote resets or coordinating local resets with field personnel.
- Coordinating with field personnel to ensure safe and reliable operations in accordance with standard operating and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with external entities like TO, grid operator and balancing authority
- Enter and manage work orders to ensure traceability of all activities at the plants
- Make proper notifications to scheduling coordinators, transmission/grid operators in the event of derates or planned outages.
- Create and maintain documentation to effectively support the operating fleet. This may include operating procedures, turnover documentation, work instructions, alarm lists etc.
Safety:
- Ensure safe and proper control of substation switching equipment and generators
- Execute emergency response procedures in accordance with safety plans.
- Grid Compliance
- Manual override of grid instructions/curtailments in the event of failure of AGC systems
- Submit outage/derate notifications to external entities using the required applications.
- Analyze plant historical data and draft summary reports
- Monitor for voltage deviation of any plant and correct where necessary
- Support grid reliability using the voltage monitoring tool and correct any deviation
- Support grid reliability using the curtailment reliability tool and correct any abnormal operation
- Perform all tasks listed above during the construction and commissioning of new plants
Requirements/Qualifications:
Education:
- 2-year technical degree, military experience in a technical field, or equivalent industry experience is acceptable
Experience:
- 4+ years of experience working in a generation/transmission operator control room
- 2+ years of experience working with renewable generators (Wind, PV, BESS)
- Strong knowledge in power system fundamentals including voltage control, automatic generation control, protection schemes etc.
- Experience working with SCADA user interfaces or HMIs is required
- Ability to draft and review standard operating procedures, checklists, and specifications
- Experience with substation switching and lock out-tag out (LOTO) procedures
- Proficiency in creating summary reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with creating/managing 12-hour Dupont schedule
Certifications:
- NERC certification is required
- Regional/ISO-specific certification is required

- Ability to communicate in English (oral & written) is required.
