At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost.
We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future.
About the role:Work on real robots, not just prototypes. This is a deeply hands-on role, focused on deploying systems that work in the real world with customers.
You’ll have high impact and ownership, playing a key role in bringing customer deployments to life, from integration through to deployment sign-off. You’ll solve meaningful engineering challenges at the intersection of robotics software, system integration, and field performance.
And you’ll see the full lifecycle of robotics delivery, from customer requirements to robust, production-ready systems deployed on-site. You’ll also grow in a fast-moving robotics company where practical engineering, ownership, and continuous improvement are valued.
How often do you get the chance to see your software running on real robots in live production environments? In this role, that’s the norm.
Develop and customise customer-specific robotic behaviour by reusing and extending existing platform components, such as behaviour trees.
Implement missing functionality and resolve software issues critical to successful customer deployments.
Perform hands-on integration, validation, and stress testing on real robotic hardware to ensure system robustness.
Integrate robotic systems using ROS2 across the full behaviour execution pipeline, from vision and motion components to automation interfaces (e.g., PLCs)
Own deployment readiness by providing technical sign-off and supporting delivery planning and effort estimation.
Collaborate closely with Field Deployment Engineers and other teams (AI, Simulation) to ensure smooth deployment execution.
Contribute to documentation, deployment manuals, coding standards, and continuous improvement of software development best practices.
Experience developing robotics software using ROS2 and simulation frameworks such as Isaac Sim (or equivalent).
Strong programming skills in Python.
Experience developing software for robotic manipulators and real-world robotic systems
Experience designing robot behaviours using behaviour trees or equivalent frameworks (e.g. state machines)
Experience working with or supporting production-grade robotics deployments in the field
Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate clearly in technical contexts
Ability to understand customer and cross-team constraints, priorities, and delivery timelines.
Experience documenting systems, tracking issues, and managing bugs through to resolution
This role will require spending approximately 50% of your time onsite at our office in Ljubljana, Slovenia, working closely with the robotics and deployment teams.
