As Robotics Graphic Designer, you will own the industrial and graphic design of our robotic systems from concept to market-ready products. You will design robots that are desirable, intuitive, and credible, balancing aesthetics, usability, and real-world constraints. Working at the intersection of users, brand, and engineering, you will translate customer needs and company values into coherent product identities and physical forms. You will collaborate closely with AI, mechatronics, hardware, and scaling/certification teams, integrating technical constraints while defending a strong, user-centered design vision.
Key responsibilities :
Define and own the overall design vision for our robots (form, materials, finishes, proportions, UX)
Design physical products that are ergonomic, practical, and production-ready
Translate user needs, client feedback, and usage contexts into design concepts and tangible solutions
Ensure all designs are aligned with UMA’s brand, values, and positioning
Collaborate daily with :
Mechatronics & hardware engineers (integration of components, constraints, tolerances)
Scaling teams (manufacturability, assembly, cost constraints)
Certification and compliance stakeholders (CE, safety, norms)
Produce and maintain :
Concept sketches, CAD models, and design specifications
CMF (Color, Material, Finish) guidelines
Design intent documentation for engineering and manufacturing
Iterate rapidly, from early prototypes to production versions
Anticipate scalability and long-term product roadmap considerations
5+ years of experience in graphic / industrial design, ideally with hardware, robotics, consumer electronics, or complex physical systems
Strong expertise in physical design (not UI/UX-only)
Proven ability to balance aesthetics, usability, and technical constraints
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and industrial constraints
Experience working closely with engineers and non-design stakeholders
Strong sensitivity to brand, detail, and coherence across product lines
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment, building from scratch : autonomous, pragmatic, execution-driven
Fluency in CAD and design tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion, KeyShot)
