Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will focus on building a high-quality sales pipeline, developing strategic customer relationships, and driving revenue growth by positioning ABB as a key enabler of flexible, safe, and scalable automation. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical knowledge, business development acumen, and field sales expertise in collaborative robotics or industrial automation. You will be instrumental in expanding ABB’s footprint in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as large manufacturers.
You will be instrumental in expanding the customer base and driving spec position of ABB robots and ABB Function Packages in General Industries based applications. These include welding and metal finishing, machine tending, assembly, 3D printing, vision supported applications and more - all within the broad General Industries space. Focused industries include Aerospace, Metal Finishing, Construction, Data Centers, Defense, and more.
Role can be based remotely, in the South Eastern US. Preferred location of candidates will be near major airports and transportation hubs such as Atlanta, Greenville, SC, Tuscaloosa, AL, Northern Florida, Charlottsville or others.
Key Responsibilities
Execute a strategic go-to-market plan to grow ABB’s pipeline and convert opportunities into sales across priority regions and industries.
Identify and engage with potential end users, system integrators, machine builders, and channel partners to promote ABB’s collaborative robot and industrial robot portfolio plus ABB's process focused Function Packages intended to make our channel more productive for all parts of the General Industry Segment.
Collaborate closely with ABB’s robotics channel partners and territory sales teams to support robotics opportunity development and qualification, and conduct technical discovery sessions and product demonstrations to showcase robotics capabilities and value propositions.
Partner with marketing to implement targeted campaigns, regional events, and webinars to raise awareness of ABB's offerings, and represent ABB at industry trade shows, expos, and automation events to increase ABB Robotics visibility and market share.
Provide voice-of-customer feedback to global product management and engineering teams to support portfolio evolution, and maintain deep knowledge of competitive offerings and industry trends in all robotics.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Business, or related field, and 5+ years of experience in sales or business development within industrial automation, robotics, or collaborative robotics; or other combination of degree and work experience, i.e. Associate's degree and 7+ years.
Deep experience and knowledge in environments core to the General Industry manufacturing and production environments. With the General Industry Segment covering such a broad customer base, a general knowledge of automation and specifically robotic automation experience is preferred.
Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM tools to manage a sales pipeline.
Willingness to travel up to 50% within the U.S. and a focus within your specified territory
Strong technical aptitude and ability to communicate value-based selling strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences desired.
Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
