HNTB’s Raleigh, NC office is seeking an Engineer I to join our Roadway design team.
Our team is currently working on some of the most complex projects in the Carolinas for NCDOT, City of Raleigh, and various other agencies. We are dedicated to serving and supporting communities by solving transportation infrastructure challenges that improve mobility, safety, and access.

As a Engineer I you will collaborate with professional engineers and other roadway staff to prepare roadway designs, plans, public meeting maps, and other various tasks from project development through project closeout. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients. Projects can range from the conceptual design to final design of new location roadways and existing highway widening, interstate and interchange improvements, traditional and complex intersections, railroad grade separation, bridge replacements, and safety improvement projects.

What You'll Do:

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Supports the preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
  • Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
  • Supports engineering teams with various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

What You'll Bring:

  • Exhibits an understanding of engineering principles relevant to Roadway Design.
  • Attains knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCad or other software.

What We Prefer:

  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Knowledgeable in OpenRoads Designer
