ABB Robotics RnD China is currently looking for a talented AI application engineer who will work as part of application software team to design, develop and maintain the robot AI application products. This position requires the candidate to develop AI based software for our innovative robot applications.

Main Responsibilities
You will contribute to the design and development of intelligent application software for robotics systems. These applications integrate AI and data technologies—such as large language models (LLMs), machine learning, and data analytics—into robotics software to enable smarter, more adaptive, and efficient robotic behaviors in real-world applications (e.g., predictive maintenance, autonomous decision-making, intelligent task planning).

You will be fully integrated into an agile development process. Your role and responsibilities will be defined by both your expertise and the team’s backlog according to business priorities. The following are examples of responsibilities and activities:

  • Design and implement AI-driven features in robotics application software
  • Apply machine learning and LLM technologies to enhance robot autonomy and intelligence
  • Develop and maintain scalable, testable, and maintainable AI software components
  • Analyze system performance and optimize AI algorithms for deployment
  • Contribute to software testing, continuous integration, and documentation

Requirements
To be considered as a candidate, you need to fulfill the following requirements:

  • M.S. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related field
  • Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Familiarity with LLMs, NLP, or reinforcement learning is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Python; Experience with ROS is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and software engineering skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally in English
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong time management and a proactive attitude
