Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a RN Quality Management Coordinator for our MercyOne Iowa Heart Center Des Moines.

As a RN Quality Management Coordinator at MercyOne, Under direction, coordinates and facilitates the principles and processes and service programs of Quality Improvement and Process Improvement congruent with the Mission and values of the MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center and MercyOne Iowa Heart Center (IHC). This position acts as a resource for clinical quality initiatives programs, risk management, and patient safety. 

Schedule:

  • Full time 40 hours a week
  • 8:00-4:30
  • No Weekends or Holidays

General Requirements:

  • Leads Quality Improvement activities for IHC to include the development and implementation of Quality Improvement initiatives based on the Quality plan:
    • Standards of care, disease management, pay for performance initiatives, outcomes reporting, internal/external benchmarking, variance trending and recommendations for reduction in clinical complications, and clinical concerns.
  • Under direction of the Quality Board, assists Leadership in research, development, communication and operational implementation of Disease Management Initiatives.
  • Coordinates and prepares written reports of defined Disease Management outcomes measurement.
  • Performs/coordinates clinical reviews for peer review and clinical concerns.
  • Coordinate patient safety activities at Iowa Heart Center as they related to clinical care
  • Works collaboratively with Mercy Risk Management departments, facilitates incident reporting, root cause analysis, and risk reporting.
  • Collaborates with Leadership on Risk Management activities, assisting with malpractice case coordination, practice-wide risk analysis, implementing risk prevention processes.
  • Maintains all QI/RM reports including variance reports, peer review, quality reviews, disease management, and compliance.
  • Monitors trends and outcomes, providing direction and guidance on needed improvement to all departments of the IHC.
  • Coordinates and develops the updates and ongoing management of clinical standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines for IHC.
  • Monitors for compliance and provides guidance to IHC leadership and staff.
  • Assists Leadership with the QI/RM plan including medical record reviews, peer review, Board of Medical Examiners investigations and malpractice. Develops and coordinates effective communication of these activities across the IHC continuum utilizing appropriate tools and mechanism.
  • Coordinates the Medical Peer Review process for outpatient events, including gathering of all needed records, data, information, scheduling and dissemination of documents to assigned medical reviewer.
  • Plans, directs, and implements goals and objectives as assigned by manager and congruent with the overall Iowa Heart Center, mission, goals and objectives.

Education:

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Iowa.
  • Two years cardiology clinical experience preferred.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, assimilate and synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Ability to educate/coach others.
  • BCLS Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained by the end of the orientation period (approximately six (6) weeks). Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
