Responsibilities & RequirementsThe RN Professional Development Specialist advances nursing practice by designing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that foster clinical competence and professional growth among nursing staff. This role collaborates with nursing leadership to assess learning needs, promote evidence-based practice, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Nursing related master's degree required within 4 years of hire Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Certification in Nursing Professional Development or specialty area required within 2 years of hire (if not held at start).
Preferred Qualifications- Master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred Experience in nursing education, preceptorship, or staff development preferred.
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development (e.g., ANCC NPD-BC) preferred at hire.
- ICU RN Preceptor Experience
- Experience with RN Professional Development Programs, (Professional Ladder, Leader Development, CE development)
- Strong intrapersonal skills
- Proficient in utilizing computer software
- Experience with an electronic learning management system preferred
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Nursing-related master's degree within four years of hire
- Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience
